Ken Loach Gets Cannes Top Prize
The votes were unanimous of the jury, led by director Wong Kar Wai, for the film The Wind That Shakes The Barley for the most important award of the festival.
The film, set in 1920, tells the story of two brothers in Northern Ireland who raise an army to fight England.
Other films were recognized during the competition, including Babel, from Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and Volver, which was submitted by Pedro Almodovar.
