Legally Blonde 3: Reese Witherspoon hopes the film will see the light of day

Development takes longer than expected

Fans of Legally Blonde are eagerly awaiting announcements about the third film, which has been in the works for a long time.

However, in a recent interview with Reese Witherspoon the American actress implied that the sequel is not yet certain, USA Today reported.

She further mentioned that she still hopes the movie will go « the right way, » which might surprise fans since Legally Blonde 3 had a release date of 2022. Development is apparently taking longer than expected.

« It’s like Top Gun. They waited a long time to do another version of this movie, and I loved the nostalgia piece that they incorporated into it. So it definitely gave us a lot of inspiration on what we would want to do with Elle Woods and make sure we had all those same elements that mattered to people back then, » Reese Witherspoon pitched.

Let’s remember that it was in May 2020 that Mindy Kaling announced that she would co-write the script of the film.

She was more than happy to confirm the news on her social media channels, writing, « Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time. Bend and snap, people! »
