Big news in the NHL: the Pittsburgh Penguins have just announced that they have signed Marc-André Fleury to a trial contract.

The club has announced that he will practice with the club on September 26 and play a warm-up game on September 27. So clearly, it’s the equivalent of a one-day contract to retire in Pittsburgh, but with a warm-up game to boot. If those two dates have been circled, it’s because that’s all it will be.[content-ads]

It’s important to remember that Flower retired. The Penguins simply took advantage of the fact that he’s still in shape and took advantage of the camp to honor him in a beautiful way. So much the better, since he deserves it. He’ll be able to return to Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kristopher Letang to retire under the colors of a club that’s important to him.

Remember, he has three rings in Pittsburgh, andI’m expecting plenty of fans to be at the arena to celebrate his career (which is also a great way to sell tickets for a warm-up game). Will the Habs do the same with Carey Price in 2026? Because he can’t play anymore, I don’t think so. But the question remains.
