Michael Jackson Nearing Legal Agreement
In an agreement signed in 2001, Debbie Rowe, mother of the children, gave up her rights to Prince Michael, now 8, and Paris, now 7.
In 2004, a judge annulled the decision, and now Rowe and Jackson are each awaiting what the final status for them and the children will be.
According to a Jackson lawyer, an agreement is nearing. "The resolution will be to everybody’s satisfaction," he said. "I’m hoping everybody will go away happy."
Rowe and Jackson were married for three years, but divorced in 1999.
When Jackson was accused of sexual molestation in 2004, Rowe gave up custody of the children in an attempt to help Jackson’s legal battle.
