Pierce Brosnan Joins Mamma Mia!

Universal will begin production on the film adaptation of the popular musical this June in London and Greece.  Brosnan, who demonstrated his singing talent in the film Evelyn, will play Sam.

During an interview with Variety magazine, the actor shared his excitement to work on the project.  Brosnan said, "I said yes right away because it meant working with Meryl Streep."

The actor added, "I saw the show with my family in London, and found it just so wonderfully happy and joyful."

Phyllida Lloyd will direct the film.  She has also directed the stage production in London and on Broadway.

Mamma Mia! includes 22 songs from the musical group ABBA, including Dancing Queen, Take a Chance on Me and Winner Takes It All.
