Police Pull Prince From the Stage

The singer was performing in his home town of Minneapolis at the First Avenue Club, which became famous after being featured in the film Purple Rain.  Still on the stage at 2:45 AM, the singer was forced to end the show when police advised the club that public gigs are not permitted to run that late into the night.

Prince told the crowd, "The authorities say we gotta go."

"We always listen to the authorities," he added. "I promise I’ll be back."
