According to the Daily Star, Robin and Barry Gibb, two members of the BeeGees are considering making an investment into remaking the successful film from the 1970s.

The former BeeGees would like Williams to play the lead role of Tony Manero, the role played by John Travolta in 1977.

A friend of the band is quoted in Britain’s Daily Star newspaper as saying: "They have always wanted to remake the film and bring out a more modern version."

The source added: "And Robbie is the ideal candidate to play Tony – he can sing, dance, is a good-looking lad and has loads of charisma."

Next month, Williams will launch his sixth disc, entitled Intensive Care.
