Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement.

The four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has chosen to hang up his helmet, racing shoes and steering wheel at the end of the current season.

The 35-year-old German said he wanted to thank everyone, especially the fans, and explains his decision while confirming the rumors.

« The decision to retire has been a difficult one for me to take, and I have spent a lot of time thinking about it. At the end of the year I want to take some more time to reflect on what I will focus on next; it is very clear to me that, being a father, I want to spend more time with my family. » he said via his statement.

Vettel has four world championship titles with the Red Bull team (2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013).

Vettel also got 53 wins and 122 podiums.
