The television mogul has plans to remake the REM song Everybody Hurts to raise funds for Haiti relief.

The Englishman, who has brought several artists to fame over the years thanks to his popular TV talent shows, has asked stars to sing a new version of the popular 1992 hit.

Several artists have heeded Simon’s call. Mika, Leona Lewis, Michael Bublé, JLS, Rod Stewart and Cheryl Cole have already confirmed, while Will Young, Joe McElderry, N-Dubz, Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Take That and Paul McCartney are planning to join the effort.

REM, who wrote the song, has already confirmed that they would drop the copyrights, so that money can be collected in full and given to the victims of the January 12 earthquake.

Many other world artists have already taken initiative for Haiti. The artistic community often reaches out when events as tragic as the Haiti earthquake arise.
