Analogue Pocket will be available to order again on December 14

Analogue, the company behind the excellent-looking ‘Pocket’ handheld for playing old GameBoy games, announced that it will accept more orders for the handheld on December 14th.

Further, the December 14th orders will open at 11am ET/8am PT — those who place an order will land in a fulfillment group with a staggered rollout process. The first group can expect Pocket devices to arrive sometime in Q1 2022, while the second group will need to wait until Q4 2022. And those unfortunate enough to land in group three won’t see a Pocket until 2023.

If that format sounds familiar, it’s because other handhelds — like Panic’s Playdate and Valve’s Steam Deck — received similar treatments after being delayed.

Moreover, Analogue announced that it was increasing the price of the Pocket from $200 USD to $219 USD (about $254.55 to $278.73 CAD) due to “industry-wide component price increases.” Accessories, however, will likely remain the same price.

Analogue will start shipping Pockets to those who have already placed an order starting Monday, December 13th (today) as promised.

Analogue’s Pocket to finally start shipping December 13

Analogue’s Pocket handheld has been given an exact release date by the company. The unique handheld console capable of playing retro Game Boy, Neo GEO Pocket Color, and Atari Lynx games will start shipping on December 13th.

Following several delays, Analogue is committed to begin shipping most pre-orders before the end of the year. Announced via Twitter, the company says that an email has been sent to all who pre-ordered the device. Details on address updating can also be found via a link provided by Analogue.

For those who may be away from home for the holidays, Analogue suggests customers hold their orders. In this case, the Pocket will be shipped early next year, around January 3rd. Last-minute updates to an order must be made by November 28th.

Analogue first announced the $199 USD (approximately $252 CAD) Pocket back in October 2019. The device was first expected to ship in 2020 but faced multiple delays as the company struggled with supply chain hurdles throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Analogue’s Pocket has been met with a fair amount of anticipation. The promise of playing Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color and Atari Lynx games all on one device was enticing for nostalgic players.

The Pocket features a 3.5-inch backlit screen with a resolution of 1600 x 1440 pixels. ROMS can also be played on the device via the MicroSD slot. Additionally, the Pocket is selling a dock to play games on a TV through HDMI support. This is an additional cost as it is not included alongside the Pocket.

Due to Nintendo’s hesitation to support many of its Game Boy and Game Boy Advance titles on Switch, Analogue’s Pocket is a way for those games to be enjoyed within modern conventions, especially if players don’t want to bring out their Super Nintendo and Super Game Boy to play on their TV.

Set thief Evangeline Lilly

Evangeline Lilly is a ”pick-pocket”.

The ‘Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies’ actress can’t resist taking home souvenirs from the sets of her movies so she has a lasting reminder of her time on the project, even if her bosses don’t realise.

She said: ”On ‘Ant-Man’, I took a rubber stamp from the office of Hank Pym, who’s played by Michael Douglas.

”I’m a bit of a pick-pocket on-set. If something is small enough to go in my pocket and it will be neat memorabilia, it’s gone.”

Away from work, the 35-year-old beauty loves spending time with her three-year-old son Kahekili – who she has with partner Norman Kali – though she admits the youngster’s interactions with other people are sometimes awkward.

She explained in an interview with People magazine: ”He’s three and he loves to talk. We were at a polo match, and he saddled up to this older boy and said, ‘Hey, I like your boots. Where’d you get those? From a horse?’ His conversation starters can be a bit awkward.”

The former ‘Lost’ star also revealed she used to pretend to be someone else when she was spotted in the street.

She said: ”It’s been better since ‘Lost’ finished. I still always get [my ‘Lost’ character name] ‘Kate!’ and ‘Freckles!’ I used to go, ‘Oh, no, I just look like her’, but I’ve sort of given up on that. It’s too much work.”
