The Queen authorizes a birthday party for William and Kate
Queen Elizabeth II has just given the go-ahead for a birthday party later this summer for Prince William, who will celebrate his 40th birthday tomorrow (June 21).
According to various sources close to the monarchy, a joint birthday party for Kate Middleton and Prince William was supposed to be held earlier this year, but the resurgence of COVID-19 has prompted the royals to postpone the celebrations.
According to The Mirror, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will have a partyheld « in style »at Windsor Castle or Sandringham Estate, both owned byQueen Elizabeth.
The Queen, along with other royals, including the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, may attend William and Kate‘s party, in keeping with the royal tradition of celebrating family members’ 10th birthdays.
However, the 96-year-old monarch, who has been suffering from increasing mobility problems in recent months, will only confirm his presence on the day of the party, a palace source confirmed.
Such celebrations have been held in the past on Prince Andrew’s 40th birthday, Princess Anne’s 50th birthday, Princess Margaret’s 70th birthday and Prince William’s 18th birthday.
It is not yet known when the future king will turn 40 on June 21 and when Kate will turn 40 on January 9.
Queen Elizabeth celebrated her platinum jubilee in early June. For four days, Her Majesty’s subjects paid tribute to her in various ceremonies held around the world.
