The success has been such that many observers are now talking about a new franchise model capable of bringing together animation, music, and popular culture within a single universe. In just a few months, KPop Demon Hunters has gone from a promising project to a global cultural phenomenon, confirming K-pop’s growing influence far beyond the music industry.

Welcome to LEGO

Given the immense popularity of KPop Demon Hunters, LEGO was quick to jump on the bandwagon. The Danish manufacturer has announced the launch of a brand-new set inspired by the hit franchise, featuring the beloved characters Derpy and Sussie Bird. Designed to appeal to both collectors and fans of the series, the product faithfully recreates the colorful and whimsical world that contributed to the film’s success.

This Is Just the Beginning

While the arrival of this first LEGO set is already delighting KPop Demon Hunters fans, many observers believe this is just the beginning. Chasing a Record

Since its release in June 2025, KPop Demon Hunters has established itself as one of the biggest phenomena in Netflix history.

The animated film follows the adventures of Huntr/x, a K-pop group made up of three idols who lead double lives as demon hunters. Thanks to its original concept and catchy soundtrack, the feature film has racked up more than 541 million viewing hours worldwide, even surpassing the 454 million hours recorded by Red Notice.

However, another historic milestone remains within reach. Despite its immense popularity, KPop Demon Hunters currently ranks 10th on Netflix’s weekly chart with 6.2 million views.

If it manages to stay in the Top 10 for a full year, it would become the first title in the platform’s history to achieve such a feat.

OPINION: White House claps at Weather Channel over… forecasting the weather?

The White House’s official ‘Rapid Response’ account has continuously proven that its emotional immaturity knows no bounds. With constant vulgar tweets targeting news media, influencers, and even random people, @RapidResponse47 is one of the most fascinating reflections of how Donald Trump has pulled American politics into WWE-style tomfoolery. We’ve briefly covered a couple of tweets from Rapid Response, but it seems like the account becomes more unhinged every day. Is it a direct reflection of Donald Trump’s psyche? Potentially. But what’s certain is the account is vulgar, insulting, and absolutely unpresidential.

Rapid Response 47 is the bridge between Donald Trump’s administration and the public. It is different from the White House’s official account and @POTUS. Both of those accounts existed before Trump and will exist long after. @RapidResponse47 is the mouthpiece of Donald Trump’s administration. A purpose-built account dedicated to defending America’s fearless leader from ‘fake news’, ‘haters’, and literally anyone else who publicly disagrees with America’s president. This past week, the story drawing the most criticism from the public has been Donald Trump’s extravagant ‘UFC 250’ – a gaudy fight night on the White House’s lawn.

I’m not sure if profane is a strong enough word. To me, it felt like the desecration of a sacred space.

-Jesse Hyde, journalist, present at UFC 250

Rapid Response screams at the clouds.

We’ll be breaking down a few embarrassing tweets from @RapidResponse47, but the one that sparked this article was made on the morning of June 14, hours before the fight night began. Just past 10 AM on June 14, the official Twitter account of the Weather Channel posted about potential weather conditions in DC that night. The tweet featured a photo of the stage on the White House lawn, and warned that “Rain, 30MPH winds, and Mosquitos on the White House lawn” were all a risk. The tweet outlined that the Weather Channel was predicting a 60 per cent chance of thunderstorms, heavy downpour, and serious wind gusts approaching 30 MPH. The tweet mentioned how DC’s humidity index would most likely bring swarms of mosquitoes and gnats to the lawn, potentially affecting the athletes.

The tweet was not made for no reason. In the days leading up to the event, sports pundits criticized the event for being held outdoors (it was the first UFC event to have done so). Even UFC supporter Joe Rigan criticized the idea, claiming ‘I don’t like the idea of fighting outside at all’. Of course, Rogan would later flip his opinion, but his point was still made. Even the UFC’s greatest supporters had doubts about the outdoor setup, with weather playing a large part in said doubts. The Weather Channel exists to comment on relevant weather news, and that’s what it did on June 14. It commented on important forecasts that would potentially impact one of the most widely watched TV events happening that night. It did not state any opinions; it simply reported the weather.

Apparently, that was too much criticism for @RapidResponse47 to stomach. The Twitter account ‘crashed out’ as people noted on social media, going on a short tirade calling out the Weather Channel. Rapid Response called the account ‘a friendless loser’ and called the tweet a ‘Bulls**t’ clickbait headline. The tweet also claimed that “Rain or shine, we’re celebrating our great country no matter what”. The problem is that the weather was a factor. The main fights had to be pushed back due to inclement weather. The UFC pushed back all fights 45 minutes due to a thunderstorm moving from West Virginia, and the delays resulted in the event lasting until after 1 AM.

Not the first, not the last

This tweet was just one example of how @RapidResponse47 is a reflection of Donald Trump’s presidency. America is now defined by a leader who is rude, crass, vulgar, and disrespectful. While it’s truly comical that his mouthpiece will attack literally anything it sees as critical of Trump, it’s also terrifying. Donald Trump is literally yelling at the clouds and anyone else he deems anti-American, which has quickly become a catch-all term for ‘anti-Trump’. Donald Trump’s feelings are as sensitive as his words are offensive.

  • Ariana Grande breaks down on stage in Los Angeles.

This scene quickly went viral on social media, reminding us just how strong and sincere the singer’s connection with her audience is, and how deeply human and moving her performances can be.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Expands Into AI With $60 Billion Acquisition

SpaceX has officially agreed to acquire Anysphere, the developer behind the popular AI coding assistant Cursor, for $60 billion in an all-stock transaction. The major deal was announced on June 16, just days after SpaceX completed its record-shattering initial public offering, marking the company’s first major acquisition as a publicly traded corporation. Under the agreement, a SpaceX subsidiary will merge directly into Anysphere, allowing Cursor to continue operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX. The transaction, which has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission and is expected to close during the third quarter, represents a dramatic expansion of Elon Musk’s ambitions in artificial intelligence and enterprise software.

The acquisition follows a partnership announced in April that gave SpaceX the option to either purchase Anysphere for $60 billion or pay $10 billion for joint development work. By exercising the option, SpaceX avoided the collaboration payment and instead moved to fully absorb one of the fastest-growing software companies in Silicon Valley. The agreement includes substantial breakup fees, with SpaceX facing a $10 billion termination payment under certain circumstances and a reduced $4 billion fee if regulators block the transaction on antitrust grounds. The structure underscores how aggressively Musk has moved to secure control of technology widely viewed as one of the most important growth segments within artificial intelligence.

«xAI was not built right first time around, so is being rebuilt from the foundations up.»

-Elon Musk

SpaceX announced the acquisition directly on X, stating: «SpaceX has exercised the option to acquire @cursor_ai in an all-stock transaction with the goal of building the world’s most useful AI models.» The statement echoed comments the company made when the original partnership was unveiled in April. At that time, SpaceX said: «The combination of Cursor’s leading product and distribution to expert software engineers with SpaceX’s million H100 equivalent Colossus training supercomputer will allow us to build the world’s most useful models.» The acquisition places Cursor’s software, customer relationships and engineering talent directly inside Musk’s expanding artificial intelligence ecosystem.

Getty Images

Founded in 2022, Anysphere rapidly became one of the most valuable AI startups in the world thanks to Cursor, an AI-powered coding assistant used by millions of developers and thousands of businesses. The company surpassed $1 billion in annualized revenue and attracted customers ranging from technology startups to major enterprises. AI coding assistants are increasingly viewed as one of the first artificial intelligence categories to generate meaningful and recurring business revenue. By acquiring Cursor, SpaceX gains an immediate foothold in a market currently dominated by products such as Anthropic’s Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex and Microsoft-backed GitHub Copilot. Industry analysts view the transaction as one of the most consequential acquisitions yet in the race to control AI-powered software development.

Getty Images

The deal also reflects Musk’s determination to strengthen his artificial intelligence operations after a period of restructuring and leadership changes. In March, Musk acknowledged challenges inside xAI, writing: «xAI was not built right first time around, so is being rebuilt from the foundations up.» The comment came as the company recruited several senior engineers and product leaders with deep experience in AI coding tools. Just one day before announcing the acquisition, Musk highlighted his long-term vision for AI infrastructure, posting: «It is humbling to consider that if we harness just 1 millionth of the sun’s power for A.I., that will be much more than a million times the intelligence of all of humanity.» Those remarks reinforced investor expectations that SpaceX intends to compete directly with OpenAI, Google and Anthropic at the highest levels of the AI industry.

«SpaceX has exercised the option to acquire @cursor_ai in an all-stock transaction with the goal of building the world’s most useful AI models.»

-SpaceX statement on X

The timing of the acquisition has amplified its impact across financial markets. SpaceX completed the largest initial public offering in history only days earlier and quickly saw its valuation surge above $2.5 trillion as investors embraced Musk’s vision for combining space technology, communications infrastructure and artificial intelligence. Because the acquisition is entirely stock-based, SpaceX is able to fund the transaction without drawing on cash reserves raised during the IPO. The move immediately expands the company’s exposure to enterprise software, a market SpaceX previously identified as one of its largest long-term opportunities. With Cursor now joining the organization, Musk has signaled that the company’s future will extend far beyond rockets and satellites into the center of the global artificial intelligence race.

Trump and Carney Caught on Hot Mic Discussing Canada-China EV Deal

The auto-sector trade fight between U.S. President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney returned to the spotlight at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains after the two leaders appeared to be caught on a hot mic discussing Canada’s agreement with China to allow a limited number of Chinese-made electric vehicles into the Canadian market. The exchange came after months of tension over Trump’s 25% tariffs on Canadian-assembled vehicles, Canada’s countermeasures and Ottawa’s decision to reduce tariffs on Chinese EVs as part of a broader trade arrangement with Beijing. The deal allows up to 49,000 Chinese-made electric vehicles into Canada annually at a reduced tariff rate, a move Carney has defended as limited, controlled and consistent with Canada’s trade obligations.

The Canada-China agreement marked a sharp shift in Ottawa’s trade posture after years of strained relations with Beijing and growing pressure from Washington. Under the arrangement, Canada reduced its 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicles to 6.1% for an initial quota of 49,000 vehicles, while China agreed to ease tariffs on Canadian agricultural exports, including canola. The deal was framed by Ottawa as a way to protect Canadian exporters, restore access to the Chinese market and diversify trade options at a time when the United States has been using tariffs more aggressively. Critics in Canada and the United States, however, warned that the agreement could expose the North American auto sector to cheaper Chinese competition and complicate relations with Washington.

«That’s good, I like it.»

– U.S. President, Donald Trump

Trump initially appeared to offer a measured response after the Canada-China agreement was announced, telling reporters that Carney was entitled to sign trade deals that served Canadian interests. «That’s what he should be doing. It’s a good thing for him to sign a trade deal,» Trump said. But his tone soon shifted sharply. In later online remarks, Trump attacked the agreement as a «disaster» and «one of the worst deals, of any kind, in history,» accusing Canada of giving Chinese automakers a back door into North America while the United States was working to block them. He warned that Canada could face 100% U.S. tariffs if it became a loophole for cheap Chinese goods entering the American market.

Getty Images

The tension resurfaced in France when a microphone captured what appeared to be a candid exchange between the two leaders during the G7 summit. Carney leaned toward Trump and appeared to explain that the Chinese EV arrangement was tightly capped, using a hand gesture to emphasize the limit. He told Trump that the 49,000 vehicles represented «less than three per cent of our market,» portraying the agreement as a narrow exception rather than a full opening to Chinese automakers. Carney then appeared to tell Trump: «I thought you’d actually like that.» Trump, listening closely, responded more positively than he had in his earlier public attacks, saying: «That’s good, I like it.»

Getty Images

The hot mic moment highlighted the contrast between Trump’s public threats and the more detailed private explanation offered by Carney. Canada has argued that the agreement does not create a free trade arrangement with China and does not violate the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement. Carney has said the measure is limited to a controlled import quota and tied to concessions for Canadian agricultural exporters, rather than a broad realignment away from North America. Trump, however, has repeatedly warned that he will use tariffs to prevent Chinese goods from reaching the U.S. market through allied countries. His broader trade strategy has relied on punishing tariffs, public warnings and pressure on partners to align more closely with Washington’s China policy.

«I thought you’d actually like that.»

-Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney

The dispute underscores the growing difficulty of balancing North American trade integration with national economic strategy. Canada’s auto sector remains deeply tied to the United States, but Ottawa is also trying to protect exporters and expand options as Trump’s tariff policies create new uncertainty. The G7 exchange suggested that Carney is attempting to reassure Trump that the EV deal is limited enough not to threaten U.S. interests, while still defending Canada’s right to make its own trade decisions. The issue is likely to remain sensitive as Washington watches whether Chinese manufacturers try to use Canada as an entry point into North America and as Canada seeks to manage pressure from both Beijing and the White House.

Canada and France Strengthen Defense Cooperation as G7 Opens

Canada and France used the opening of the G7 summit to announce a significant expansion of their strategic partnership, unveiling new initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation across defense, space, artificial intelligence and aerospace. The agreement reflects growing efforts by both countries to deepen collaboration amid rising geopolitical tensions and increasing uncertainty surrounding global security. Speaking about the new partnership, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized the importance of the bilateral relationship in the current international climate. «In a more dangerous and divided world, Canada’s relationship with France is ever more important. We share the same values, and increasingly, the same interests. Ahead of the G7 Leaders’ Summit, President Macron and I are collaborating in artificial intelligence, defence and security, and online safety – and building a more secure and prosperous future on both sides of the Atlantic.»

The announcement was made during Carney’s visit to Paris, where he met French President Emmanuel Macron before the G7 leaders gathered in Évian-les-Bains. At the center of the new agreement is a General Security of Information Agreement, designed to make it easier for Canada and France to exchange classified information and deepen cooperation between government agencies, military organizations and industry partners. The agreement is expected to strengthen defense and industrial cooperation, create new procurement opportunities and improve interoperability between the two countries. For Ottawa, the deal also fits into a broader strategy of expanding security and trade partnerships beyond North America while maintaining strong ties to NATO allies.

«What this means is an ability to exchange classified information between our defence, our space, our AI and our aerospace sectors.»

-Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney

Defense cooperation forms the centerpiece of the new partnership. Canada and France pledged to increase collaboration between their armed forces, defense industries and procurement systems at a time when allied countries are under pressure to modernize military capabilities and reduce strategic vulnerabilities. The agreement is expected to facilitate joint projects, strengthen coordination on military technologies and help Canadian companies compete for French defense and security procurement opportunities. Both governments also framed the partnership as part of a wider effort to reinforce collective security within NATO, particularly as European allies continue to expand defense spending and coordination following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Getty Images

Space exploration, satellite technology and aerospace also feature prominently in the agreement. The two countries committed to expanding cooperation between their national space agencies, research institutions and private-sector partners, with future projects expected to involve satellite communications, Earth observation systems, space-based security technologies and emerging aerospace platforms. Canada and France both have major aerospace industries, with companies and suppliers that play important roles in commercial aviation, defense manufacturing and advanced systems development. Officials said deeper cooperation could strengthen supply chains, support innovation and create new opportunities for companies operating in both countries, particularly in sectors considered critical to future economic growth and national security.

Getty Images

Artificial intelligence emerged as another major pillar of the partnership. Canada and France have both invested heavily in AI research and development over the past decade and have increasingly positioned themselves as countries seeking to shape the global rules surrounding emerging technologies. Under the new framework, the two governments are expected to explore joint research, talent exchanges, security applications and standards for responsible AI development. The agreement also includes cooperation on online safety, cybersecurity and advanced technologies, areas that are increasingly tied to both economic competitiveness and national defense. Speaking about the practical impact of the agreement, Carney said: «What this means is an ability to exchange classified information between our defence, our space, our AI and our aerospace sectors.»

-Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney

The announcement signals a broader effort by Canada and France to present themselves as closely aligned partners in a more unstable geopolitical environment. For Canada, the partnership supports a wider push to diversify strategic relationships while strengthening ties with Europe. For France, it reflects a long-standing goal of deepening defense and industrial cooperation among democratic allies while expanding European security partnerships. Macron described Canada as a friend of France and Europe as the two leaders discussed trade, defense and security. Beyond military considerations, officials said the agreement could also encourage investment, job creation and technological innovation. By expanding cooperation across defense, space, artificial intelligence and aerospace, both governments are seeking to build a more resilient transatlantic partnership at a time when security and technology are increasingly inseparable.

Newsom Accuses Trump of Targeting His Family in New DOJ Investigation: «Investigate Me» but «Leave My Wife and Family Out»

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced in a lengthy video statement that the U.S. Department of Justice has launched an investigation into him, describing the probe as part of a «personal vendetta» orchestrated by Donald Trump. Newsom claimed federal investigators have expanded their scrutiny far beyond his political activities and are now targeting members of his family, friends and former staff. «In recent days, federal agents have knocked on the doors of family, friends and former employees. Not because they found a crime, because they’re simply trying to find one,» Newsom said. He added: «They’re demanding records. They’re abusing the grand jury process, digging through years and years of random documents.» The accusations represent a dramatic escalation in the long-running feud between the California governor and the White House.

Newsom directly tied the investigation to speculation surrounding a potential 2028 presidential campaign. The Democratic governor, widely viewed as one of the party’s leading national figures, argued that the probe is politically motivated rather than based on evidence of wrongdoing. «Donald Trump isn’t just coming after me because of my mean tweets. He’s coming after me because I’m considering running for president,» Newsom said. He continued: «Because he hates that I’ve consistently called him out over and over again for his lies and deceit.» The governor did not provide specific details about the alleged investigation but said the pattern of activity by federal agents convinced him that the effort is aimed at damaging a potential political rival.

«Donald Trump picked the wrong target. We have nothing to hide. His political operatives can take every record and read every page, but they’ll be looking in the wrong place. Because if they really want to find corruption, look no further than 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.»

-California Governor, Gavin Newsom

The California governor also delivered some of his sharpest criticism of Trump since the president returned to office. In the video, Newsom accused Trump of weaponizing federal institutions against political opponents and described the administration as operating through retaliation rather than impartial law enforcement. «Donald Trump is simply the most corrupt president in American history,» Newsom said. He added: «He’s turned the levers of government into his own personal power ministries to reward cronies and to try to jail his opponents.» Newsom further argued that Trump’s allies now control key institutions that should remain independent, specifically citing the Department of Justice as an example of what he described as a broader abuse of executive power.

Getty Images

As part of his argument, Newsom pointed to a growing list of Trump critics who have faced scrutiny or investigations. «His personal attorney now runs the Department of Justice, which has repeatetly gone after his political enemies. Ask Jerome Powell. Sent them after James Comey, Tish James, Adam Schiff. He sent them after Tim Waltz and a woman that a jury found Donald Trump had sexually abused,» Newsom said. He concluded that portion of his remarks by declaring: «One by one, anyone who has challenged Donald Trump has ended up on his hit list. And today, I proudly join that list.» The comments reflected Newsom’s effort to portray his situation as part of a broader pattern rather than an isolated investigation.

Getty Images

A major focus of Newsom’s statement involved his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom. The governor claimed investigators have recently expanded their inquiries to include people and organizations connected to her. «After calling for my arrest last year, Donald Trump directed his Department of Justice to investigate me. And just in the last week, I’ve learned that his campaign has reached my own home. To get me, he’s coming after my wife, Jen.» Newsom described his wife as «A public servant, a woman who’s dedicated her life to supporting women and girls. Someone who has done nothing wrong other that having the temerity to advocate for what she believes in.» He then added: «If they can’t intimidate me, they’ll go after the mother of our children.» Sources familiar with the matter told multiple news organizations that inquiries involving Jennifer Siebel Newsom and individuals associated with her organizations are among several investigations reportedly underway.

«His personal attorney now runs the Department of Justice, which has repeatetly gone after his political enemies. Ask Jerome Powell. Sent them after James Comey, Tish James, Adam Schiff. He sent them after Tim Waltz and a woman that a jury found Donald Trump had sexually abused. One by one, anyone who has challenged Donald Trump has ended up on his hit list. And today, I proudly join that list.»

-California Governor, Gavin Newsom

Newsom concluded his address by speaking directly to Trump and daring investigators to continue examining his personal records. «To Donald Trump, who I know is watching because he watches everything, I have a message for you. You can subpoena my records. You can investigate me. You can harass me. Put my name on every and any enemies list you have, but leave my wife and family out of your personal vendetta.» He followed with another direct attack on the president: «Donald Trump picked the wrong target. We have nothing to hide. His political operatives can take every record and read every page, but they’ll be looking in the wrong place. Because if they really want to find corruption, look no further than 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.» Newsom’s office has since filed a Freedom of Information Act request seeking records related to the investigation, while the Justice Department has declined public comment.
