14 things to buy in bulk at Costco
At first glance, shopping at Costco may seem like a bargain with its wholesale prices. However, it’s important to remember that you’re already paying for your membership card, and that your total monthly expenses are added to this. As a result, your purchases will only be profitable if the benefits compared with a purchase in other stores are greater than your monthly payment. Also, it’s important to choose products that you really need, not something that will sit in the back of your closet for the next couple of years. To help you, we’ve put together a list of 14 items to buy in bulk at Costco for real savings.

Olive and avocado oils
Everyone uses cooking oil every day, unless you don't have a kitchen at home or eat fast food all the time. Olive and avocado oils in particular are a great deal at the wholesale store, and the quality is excellent too.
Walnuts of all varieties
Walnuts are part of our everyday recipes, whatever the season. Having plenty of them in your pantry comes in very handy. Whether it's cashews, almonds, hazelnuts or mixed nuts, you'll benefit from buying several packs.
Electric batteries
Many household appliances run on batteries, such as remote controls, toys, flashlights and smoke detectors. We all know how hard it is to run out of batteries when all the local stores are closed. In this case, it's better to have a good supply, especially if it costs less.
Toilet paper
It's undoubtedly one of the most indispensable products in the home. And even if we've already outgrown the covid-19 containment, it's still advisable to have a stock of toilet paper at home. However, we won't force you to do without it...
Cheeses of all types
Who doesn't like cheese? Unless, of course, you're lactose intolerant, in which case no one will blame you. We eat it every day: for meals, snacks and even as an aperitif. All types are recommended at Costco, and I don't think they'll go mouldy before you've eaten them all.
Disinfectant wipes
If you don't want to catch all the germs that spread to everyone around you, we recommend keeping disinfectant wipes on hand at all times. You can use them to clean door handles, children's toys or simply to clean your hands when there's no water available.
Frozen fruit and vegetables
Costco offers very attractive prices for frozen fruit and vegetables. These can be kept longer than fresh vegetables, at the expense of a slight loss of quality. However, they are very practical for those who can't shop every day and need to stock up.
Freezer bags
Still on the subject of frozen foods, you'll need bags before putting them in the freezer. This method represents a compromise between fresh and frozen products. What's more, you can keep new bags for as long as you like, as long as you store them in a clean place.
Eggs
Buying eggs in bulk is much more cost-effective than buying them in small packs of 4 or 6. And like cheese, eggs are eaten every day. Just check the best-before date and store your eggs in a cool, dry, dark place, not necessarily in the fridge.
The café
Drinking coffee in the morning is more than just a routine for many people, it's an essential need to get the day started. We can consume kilos a month at home, at a rate of three or four cups a day per person. The price per kilo then becomes more affordable, whether ground or bean.
Cereals
You don't necessarily have to be a large family to consume several boxes of cereals a month, given that we eat them almost every day for breakfast and quite often as snacks. You'll quickly realize the savings if you buy them in bulk, and what's more, they keep for a very long time.
Meats
Apologies to our vegetarian friends, but meat is one of Costco's best-value products. However, you'd have to eat it regularly for it to really pay off. Beef, pork, chicken... fresh or frozen, you don't have to be a restaurateur to take advantage of wholesale prices.
Hand soap
Every well-behaved child knows perfectly well to wash his or her hands before eating and after going to the toilet. This just goes to show how much we need hand soaps. And while we're at it, why not take advantage of the best possible prices?
Cleaning products
Cleanliness comes at a price if you don't want to live in an unhealthy environment. But you can save a little on the cost of cleaning products. You can find laundry detergents, detergents, disinfectants, etc., and it's easy to find great deals without having to wait for promotions.
Products for pets
We almost forgot to stock up on supplies for our favorite pets! Luckily, Costco has just what they need. Whether you're stocking up on kibble for your dog or looking for litter for your cat, there's plenty to choose from.
