A transformed Sydney Sweeney on Christy’s red carpet at AFI FEST

Sydney Sweeney electrified the red carpet at the AFI FEST screening of Christy in Los Angeles. The star played boxing champion Christy Martin in the highly anticipated biopic directed by David Michôd. On the red carpet, she posed flanked by her co-stars, including Christy Martin herself, Ben Foster (who plays her trainer and then husband in the film), Jess Gabor and Tony Cavalero - all gathered to celebrate this ambitious project blending sport, power and resilience.

For the occasion, Sweeney unveiled a striking transformation: she cut her hair into a flat bob and swapped her usual shade for a very light ash blonde, a change designed to mark the event and reflect her physical metamorphosis for the role of Christy Martin.

Christy Martin is a former American professional boxer who has become one of the leading figures in women's boxing.she made her mark on the sport's history, rising from a young, small-town athlete to a world-renowned champion, and in 2010 survived a brutal forward attack perpetrated by her husband, also a trainer. Since then, she has become a boxing promoter, domestic violence advocate and symbol of resilience.

Ben Foster plays Jim Martin, the trainer and husband of boxer Christy Martin. His intense performance explores the complex relationship, marked by manipulation and violence, between mentor and champion. Foster delivers a disturbing and powerful performance.

Jess Gabor plays Sherry Lusk, a close friend and key witness to the boxer's journey. Her performance brings warmth and emotional depth to the story. Gabor, who made her name in Shameless, plays an empathetic role here, supporting Sydney Sweeney in one of her roles.

Christine Centenera and Joel Edgerton, who have been a couple since 2018, were photographed together at the film's premiere, although they are not identified in the cast.
