Air Canada: A long and difficult return for thousands of passengers

Even if the strike seems to be over, the return journey is going to be long and difficult for thousands of travellers after the end of the Air Canada strike.

Air Canada and the union representing more than 10,000 flight attendants have reached a tentative agreement ending a strike that paralyzed Canadian aviation for several days and left thousands of travelers stranded.

Despite the announced recovery, the return to normal operations will be long and difficult, with over 500,000 passengers having had their flights cancelled since the strike began.

The company has warned that it will take a week to ten days to get its aircraft and staff back in place after the strike.

At the end of the dispute between the flight attendants' union and Air Canada, an agreement in principle was reached to end the strike. More details to come. 

In particular, flight attendants have won an end to unpaid work, as they were previously only paid once the aircraft doors closed, with no compensation for boarding passengers or carrying out security checks. Further details to follow.
