According to sources from the Globe and Mail, Indian agents would have been involved in fundraising and organization within the South Asian community in Canada to support Poilievre during the race that led to his victory as the leader of the Conservative Party of Canada in 2022.

This information has quickly circulated among government members with a security clearance, but Poilievre seems to be avoiding it since 2022. He appears to be deliberately ignoring compromising elements, as he is the leader of the opposition and now in the midst of a campaign to become prime minister of Canada.

Mark Carney reacted strongly to Pierre Poilievre's refusal to obtain his security clearance, calling his decision 'beyond baffling' and 'irresponsible'.

Carney added: «As a normal course, in peacetime, when times are tranquil, that's unacceptable then. But at this point in our history, when we face the greatest threats that we faced in generations in most of our lifetimes, he has to answer for that.» According to Carney, this behavior jeopardizes the security of the country and the responsibility of political leaders.

According to established protocols, political leaders must obtain a security clearance to be fully informed of national security issues and access to classified information.
