Ironman dies in tragic accident

Brian Kozera, a Pennsylvania Ironman who was also a police officer in his hometown and a cancer survivor, died suddenly at the age of 44.

Kozera was hit head-on by a car while training for three events leading up to the big event in Hawaii this October.

TMZ Sports obtained information from the accident report, then Kozera allegedly ran a stop/stop, sending him head-on into the wheels of a pickup truck.

According to the documents, Brian ended up in the back wheels of the pickup truck. Authorities said the 44-year-old man was quickly transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead from injuries.

Note that in 2014, Kozera was diagnosed with a rare cancer (Hodgkin’s lymphoma), and then knocked out this one in 2015, which actually pushed him to become an Ironman athlete.

The leader of Blink-182 contemplated suicide

Mark Hoppus, leader of Blink-182, considered suicide when he was told he had cancer. At the time, he didn’t know if he had the strength to triumph.

The 50-year-old received a rather tough diagnosis in June 2021, when his cancer was stage 4 (diffuse large B-cell lymphoma).

His wife eventually implored him to fight, and she’s been behind him through all the rounds Hoppus has gone through.

The Blink-182 co-founder has been in remission since last September, proving that this fight was worth it.

While we’re on the subject of pop-punk band, Hoppus also opened up about his close friendship with former band member Tom DeLonge.

The two old pals reconnected, and then at Travis Barker‘s wedding, the trio had a blast reuniting, proving that rumors of a DeLonge comeback are actually possible.

“It was the first time the three of us had been in the same room in five years. It was actually better than before (…). There were no grudges (…) three friends sitting in a room,” he said, according to People.

The bassist actually posted an old photo of the trio on his Instagram account six weeks ago.

“I am proud to announce that I will be starting my medical residency at McGill University in July 2022. It has been four years since I received my MD and now it is time to get back into it (…) It has not been easy to turn down offers from NFL teams over the past few months and I am not closing the door on a return to the NFL. However, it was important for me to start my residency this summer with my cohort so I don’t fall behind (…),” he had added.

Who knows, maybe we’ll see him playing again soon!

Drake breaks an old Beatles record

Drake recently became the artist with the most songs in the Top 5 most popular songs on Billboard, not to mention that this Beatles record has held up for 55 years!

To highlight this colossal feat, Drake dropped a post via his Instagram account.

https://www.instagram.com/p/ChTclfvOmI6/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

“Ok I broke my records for the month”, Drake said.

The Toronto rapper now owns the record thanks to Staying Alive, which helped him reach the Top 5 on the Billboard charts for the 30th time in his career, beating out The Beatles (29 songs).

Let’s say one thing about this record though, in the Beatles’ era, there was no platform like there is now, which shows how dominant the quartet was.

Pay inequity: Bryce Dallas Howard denounces being paid “so much less” than Chris Pratt for Jurassic World

She paid the price for Jurassic World…

Recently, actress Bryce Dallas Howard spoke out about the gender-based pay inequity that still plagues Hollywood (and most workplaces…). In an interview with Insider the American actress spoke about this very real issue.

The actress, who has appeared in all the Jurassic World trilogy films, confided that she was paid much less than her colleague Chris Pratt. Yet both stars are very well known, and their screen time is similar, so there is no reason why one of them should be paid less than the other.

Bryce Dallas Howard explains that when she negotiated her contract in 2014, the pay equity discussions in Hollywood were not yet present, which put her at a disadvantage.

And unfortunately, the contract is signed for the entire trilogy, so despite the overwhelming success of the films, the actress was not able to get better pay for her work.

However, the actress discussed the situation with Chris Pratt, who agreed to negotiate on her behalf with the producers. His intervention allowed her to get nice contracts on the derivatives of the franchise, such as theme parks and video games.

This specific situation reminds us of the importance of having allies who speak up and stand together with women to fight injustices of all kinds.

While ideally, Bryce Dallas Howard would have been able to negotiate and be heard by the producers without Chris Pratt’s intervention, the reality is still different, and there is still a long way to go before true gender equality is achieved.

Mookie Betts keeps being kind with fans

Mookie Betts made a young fan very happy by throwing him a ball in the stands at American Family Field in Milwaukee.

During the Los Angeles Dodgers’ game against the Brewers, Betts did everything he could to give the young fan a unique moment.

Instead of doing his usual warm-up between innings, the Dodgers star spotted a young Brewers fan in the right field bleachers holding up a sign, so he decided to play catch with him.

This sequence lasted several minutes, and the fan in question will certainly keep this moment in memory for the rest of his life.

A few months ago, Betts retrieved the ball that a fan caught and gave it to a young player who had just slammed his first long ball at home, only to hand him a bat a few moments later.
