It’s going to be tough with the Canadiens’ groin injuries

That’s what groin injuries do for the Canadiens. Kaiden Guhle and Noah Dobson missed training camp with groin injuries. But you know as well as I do that it’s a different story with Guhle, who will miss several weeks with an injury. Wemust also mention Zachary Bolduc, who was injured in camp and doesn’t seem to be at 100% at the moment, and Samuel Montembeault, who was injured in the playoffs. Then there’s Kirby Dach. According to Renaud Lavoie, the forward appears to have a groin injury, and

It makes sense that it’s a groin injury, considering that Dach hasn’t missed his team’s last few games due to load management related to his knee.

There may be some of that too, but that’s not the official reason given by Martin St-Louis,inany case.content-ads]It seems that with the Habs, if it’s not a knee that’s affected, it’s the groin. It’s becoming a growing problem around town, and the Habs are going to have to do something about it. Are the Habs players pushing the machine too hard in terms of practice? Not taking enough summer breaks? Do they not have the right plans in place to maximize their chances of avoiding lower-body injuries? These are questions that need to be asked. Remember that in recent years, the Canadiens have made changes to their medical staff to reduce injuries. But not everything is perfect.

“Ivan Demidov shows a real willingness to immerse himself in Québécois culture”

Ivan Demidov continues to make his mark in Quebec. The BeHy company, founded in 2023 by Étienne Boulay, Maxime Talbot and Bruno Gervais, has announced that the Canadiens player will now represent the brand. This was announced on social networks

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by BEHY (@drinkbehy)

BeHy is a company that offers healthy and natural hydrating drinks, powered by maple syrup. Demidov has chosen to partner with local guys to promote it, and that’s something that’s important to Étienne Boulay.

In addition to his talent on the ice, he shows a real willingness to immerse himself in Québécois culture.

Étienne Boulay

[content-ads]This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Demidov in the public eye since his arrival. He’s taking advantage of his popularity to get people talking about him, which is all well and good –we all remember that, right?

A few months ago, he also teamed up with Olivier Primeau to promote the Relax Downlow relaxation drink. So this isn’t the first time Demidov has flaunted his colors, and I don’t think Habs fans will mind seeing more of him in the public sphere. I say that because Demidov is very focused on hockey and learning French. So it’s not as if he’s just coming to Montreal to make a quick buck.We imagine there will be other associations in the future. Overtime]- David Savard turns 35.

Canadiens: two reasons to be optimistic when looking at the standings and statistics

The Canadiens are off to a good start, but is everything perfect? Of course not. At some point, replacing Kaiden Guhle with Marc Del Gaizo in the 23-man roster is clearly going to take its toll. But right now, things are going well. When you take a look at the NHL website, you’ll realize that the Canadiens do have a few reasons for optimism going forward. And that starts with the standings. Because yes, even if the schedule hasn’t been the most…… demanding (in terms of quality of opponent) since the start of the season, and the sample size is small, the fact remains that the Habs are doing what they need to do by winning regularly.October’s points are worth as much as April’s, as they say.

(Credit: NHL.com)

[content-ads]Yesterday, the Bruins, Maple Leafs and Senators all dropped their games. This helps the Habs in their division at the start of the regular season, and when you look at what’s happening in the division, you realize that the Atlantic is weaker – for the moment – than the Metropolitan. At the bottom of the standings are clubs from the Canadiens’ division.

(Credit: NHL.com)

Of course, this has time to change 1,000 times over. But it’s better that way than the other way around. One of the reasons for this is another piece of good news for the Habs: their direct rivals are scoring goals and not necessarily a lot of them at the start of the season. Even better? The Canadiens don’t have that problem: in fact, so far this season, no one in the division is scoring more than the Habs. With 25 goals, only the Golden Knights do better in the entire NHL[content-ads]

(Credit: NHL.com)

The Bruins (in eight games) and Maple Leafs have scored 24 goals. The Red Wings and Sabres have scored fewer goals than the Habs (14 and 18 respectively), but 20 and 15 goals respectively. That’s a far cry from the Canadiens’ 25. Nor do the Lightning (16 goals scored, 21 allowed), Panthers (19 and 23) and Senators (21 and 33) have the world’s most advantageous goals scored/allowed differential.Infact, apart from the Red Wings, the Canadiens are the only team in their division to score more goals than they allow. Is it a coincidence that these two clubs are at the top of the Atlantic this morning? The standings and the goals scored/allowed differential are two good reasons to be optimistic for the Canadiens. But obviously, the club can’t give up, because things can change very quickly. Especially on the road… [spacer title=’en rafale’]- To read.– Ivan Demidov, BeHy spokesman. [

Top-5: Brad Marchand in tears on his return to Boston

Last night, 20 teams were playing, and it was a rare Tuesday when the Habs weren’t in action. Here are the results and highlights:

1. Panthers win as Brad Marchand returns to BostonAfter winning their first three games of the season, the Bruins wanted to stop their descent into hell. After their wins, they lost four games in a row. But Boston could do nothing against the two-time defending champions and their former captain Brad Marchand, who received a moving ovation before the game for returning to Boston for the first time since being traded to the Panthers last year.

The forward had tears in his eyes. Heplayed well in this game, picking up two assists, including this one:

And, is it really a Florida game if Marchand doesn’t go to the dungeon?

As mentioned, Florida won, but the home side worked to the end.

With less than two minutes left in the game, Morgan Geekie seemed to have led everyone into overtime.

But minutes later, the visitors scored the winning goal.

What a game, which ended 4-3.

[content-ads]2. A first goal for Connor McDavid in an Oilers victoryLast night, the Oilers were in Ottawa. And Connor McDavid finally broke the deadlock. He scored the first goal of the game, his first of the season.

Then, young Isaac Howard also scored his first goal. But for him, it was his first of his career.

Despite trailing 0-2, the Sens didn’t give up, scoring two goals in short order to tie the game.

Despite the beautiful comeback in the game, Ottawa lost in overtime.

Jake Walman gave the Habs’ opponents the win on Thursday.

[content-ads]3. A first game of more than one point for Matthew SchaeferIn New York, it was the battle between the two most recent first overall picks of the 2025 and 2024 auctions. Macklin Celebrini versus Matthew Schaefer. Victory for Schaefer and the Islanders by a score of 4-3.

It was the first two-point game for the young defenseman, who looks like the best player on the team.

After the game, he gave some love to the fans.

Imagine him on the same defensive pair as Noah Dobson.

San Jose may have lost – the coach’s sacrifice didn’t work – but Celebrini didn’t want to be robbed of the limelight. Late in the game, he closed the gap. But unfortunately, it was too little too late.

Final score: 4-3 Islanders. In defeat, Michael Misa earned his first NHL point.

[content-ads]4. Blue Jays at Scotiabank ArenaLess than 24 hours after punching their ticket to the World Series, Jays players rewarded themselves with a Toronto Maple Leafs game. Despite the presence of real winners, the Leafs escaped it against the NHL’s team of the hour the New Jersey Devils.

Final score: 5-2.

It was the Jack Hughes show in Toronto. The young American scored a hat trick.

Jake Allen also put in his two cents. Here, he stole a goal from Morgan Rielly.

In defeat, Mattias Maccelli scored his first in a Toronto uniform.

[content-ads]5. A 600th assist for Kris LetangSurprisingly, the Penguins are off to a good start to the season. Thanks to a 5-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh has a 5-2-0 curtain-raiser record. Are the players more motivated not to lose their captain? In any case, the 87 continues to rise in value.

He finished the game with a goal. But the best player on this team so far this campaign is Justin Brazeau. Yesterday, he collected a goal and two assists, and now has eight points in seven games so far this season. In the win, Kris Letang reached a nice plateau.

More than ever, Artemi Panarin could be traded

The Rangers aren’t off to the start they’d hoped for. Whitewashed in their first three games at Madison Square Garden, the Blue Shirts suffered another setback yesterday. What are the expectations for the club this year? The playoffs at the very least, but clearly, the chemistry hasn’t yet settled with new coach Mike Sullivan. How patient will upper management be? Not very, believes Frank Sevaralli.

“Do I think Chris Drury will be afraid to trade Artemi Panarin at the deadline if they’re going nowhere? No, I don’t think so.”

Frank Sevaralli

From this statement, we can deduce a few things. The first is that Panarin could be available if the Habs want a player to play with Demidov. Clearly, he’s not the only one who could become available. Kent Hughes’ patience could bring him a very good player in the middle of the season [content-ads] But we’d have to think about another contract if the Canadiens want Panarin for several seasons. He’s running out the last year of a 7-year contract worth $11.64 million a year. What we can also read between the lines is that the Rangers have not, at least so far, managed a good rebuild. It was brief, of course, but the team never reached the expected level. We haven’t reached the Stanley Cup Final since 2014, and after getting rid of several veterans last year, the team wanted to use the core and add pieces. However, Panarin is part of the core, so would a deal like this be the start of another rebuild? To be continued [spacer title=’Overtime’] – Pretty crazy.

– Nice showcase.

– The Devils are on fire.

– That’s one less on the calendar.

The Blue Jays planted Shane Wright on X

The Blue Jays are getting a lot of attention in the sports news – and for damn good reasons, it should be mentioned. The club qualified for the World Series last night by beating the Seattle Mariners in an ultimate game… even though Vladimir Guerrero Jr. arrived at the stadium with an Auston Matthews jersey on his back.

We know the reputation of Matthews and #7 games, after all…

It’s been a party in Toronto since last night, and everyone’s happy with the way things turned out. That said, the Jays’ X account is as active as ever after yesterday’s win, and there’s a post that’s pretty funny, because the club decided to plant… Shane Wright. Here’s the background: on October 18, the day before Game 6 of the series between the Blue Jays and Mariners, the Kraken players entered the arena for their game against the Leafs (in Toronto) with a Mariners jersey on their backs, so the Jays decided to taunt Wright – who’s from Ontario -… by telling him that wearing the Mariners vest probably hurt.

[content-ads] I love it, when sports clubs get creative like this on X. It may sound cocky for a while – especially among fans of the team or player who’s getting screwed – … that said, it’s amazing how last night’s Jays win is the talk of the town – even in the NHL. Craig Berube and his Leafs take on Sheldon Keefe and the Devils tonight in the Queen City… and both coaches started their press briefings the same way: talking about the Jays.

It’s cool, seeing what’s going on in Toronto right now.And obviously, the Jays are making the most of it. I wonder if Shane Wright will accept the club’s invitation? Hehe.Because that would be fun![spacer title=’Overtime’] – Fair enough.

– Poolers beware.

– No worse.

– Hard not to go with MacKinnon’s.

Joshua Roy and Marc Del Gaizo recalled: Owen Beck sold to the Rocket

The Canadiens have recalled

Joshua Roy and defenseman Marc Del Gaizo from the Laval Rocket, while Owen Beck has been traded to the Laval Rocket.

Basically, this probably means that we preferred to let Adam Engstrom play down low instead of making him eat popcorn on the gangplank in the West. That’s how I see it, at least. And if need be, Del Gaizo is a defenseman with NHL experience – and is paid no less down low than up high. He’ll be able to allow Engstrom to develop well down there (by playing a lot), which is important for the Habs.We don’t want to undress the Rocket for nothing either.content-ads]As for Roy, we can potentially think that the Habs want to install him in the stands. After all, it’s logical to think that the Canadiens want to have more than 12 healthy forwards for the trip, even if they don’t have to. If he plays, good for him. If he doesn’t, he’ll be paid 10 times as much per day ($500 in the AHL vs. $5,000 in the NHL) to eat popcorn. But I imagine that in his “last chance meeting” with the Canadiens, he asked to play in the NHL… not just to be in the best hockey league in the world. If he gets an opportunity, he’ll have to take it.

[content-ads]Let’s also note that Kirby Dach worked on his banged-up knee this morning in practice. Does this mean he wants to see what he can take? The question arises.

He practiced with the regulars in practice. Will he play tomorrow? Did the Habs just give him a break (like they did David Reinbacher last year) as part of a pre-established plan? Remember, the center wasn’t 100% at the start of camp. Patrik Laine didn’t practice. [spacer title=’prolongation’]- Interesting.

– Nice.

Samuel Montembeault wanted to play yesterday

The Habs have a 5-2 record since the start of the season, which is beyond the expectations of many fans. Still, there are some hot topics on the Habs’ minds: injuries to Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine, and the goaltending situation. The latter is a hot topic, as many would like to see Jakub Dobes become the team’s #1 goaltender. Samuel Montembeault, who hasn’t had a good start to the season, obviously sees things differently. He even wishes he’d been in front of the net Monday night against the Sabres.

“Of course, when you have a not-so-good game, it’s always fun to play a quick one afterwards to move on quickly. (…) It’s important to put it behind you quickly. If you drag it out too long, you’ll come into a game and you’ll be thinking too much” – Samuel Montembeault

[content-ads] You have to understand the competitor in Montembeault; he wants to bounce back quickly. Monty doesn’t live under a rock, he’s aware of what people think of his and Dobes’ work. He sees the Czech goalkeeper enjoying success while he fails to maintain an average above 0.900 since the start of the season. Martin St-Louis is having a debate at the moment: whether to ride the wave and put his best goalkeeper in front of the net or restore Montembeault’s confidence. There’s no right answer, but I think people are being far too hard on Monty. As recently as last April, he was extremely solid against the Caps, while Dobes looked a bit crooked when he came on in relief. As my colleague Max Truman said, the Québécois goaltender has been dragging his double groin tear around for part of the summer. He looks like a guy who’s behind the times at the moment. He needs to play to get back into good shape, and I’d like to see St-Louis allow him to do just that. For me, he’s still the team’s number 1 goalie. An NHL season is a marathon, not a sprint. For now, Dobes has the upper hand, but we’ll see what happens next. spacer title=’Overtime’] – Excellent start.

– A whole career with the Bruins.

– That was pretty spectacular yesterday.

– A player to watch.

Kirby Dach “most likely” won’t play both games in two nights this week

Kirby Dach has missed the Canadiens’ last two games with a lower-body injury. We know he’ll be making the trip out West (Patrik Laine won’t be there) with the team… but we don’t necessarily know Martin St-Louis’s exact plan.Renaud Lavoie provided more details on this subject earlier this evening on the JiC show. The TVA Sports journalist mentioned that Dach might miss tomorrow’s and Thursday’s games. The Canadiens would like to be cautious in the case of the forward, because we know that the last few months haven’t necessarily been easy. And now, if he’s hurt his groin… it’s normal to see the Canadiens protect him a little.

He was able to finish the game, but groin injuries aren’t small. […] What I’m saying is that Dach is being told he’ll be traveling out West. But most likely, he won’t play two games in as many nights.

Renaud Lavoie

[content-ads] The feeling I have is that we could see Dach play on Thursday in Edmonton. The Habs might want to give him time to rest for one more game, while allowing him to come back even stronger. If that happens, we could see Joshua Roy in uniform tomorrow night in Calgary. Unless Martin St-Louis decides to go with 7 defensemen…No. That won’t happen. The Canadiens didn’t recall Roy to leave him in the stands to play Del Gaizo in his stead . Let’s also remember, in all this, that it was the original plan not to have Dach play both in two… but he did it anyway against the Leafs and Wings to kick off the campaign. But it’s not crazy for the Canadiens to want to be careful with their center. We know he has a long injury history and is coming off major surgery. If he’s not 100%, it’s better to protect him rather than risk anything.spacer title=’Overtime’] – He’s good.

– Nice.

Nick Suzuki is the NHL’s top scorer since the Four Nations

Last year, Nick Suzuki was ignored by Canada at the 4 Nations Confrontation. The Habs captain was given a few weeks off… and when he returned, he was a man on a mission.Almost single-handedly, he dragged his club into the playoffs. And once again this year, Suzuki is productive on the scoresheet. He already has 10 points in seven games, while maintaining a plus-minus rating of plus-6. And what we’ve noticed is that since the 4 Nations Confrontation, the captain is truly, truly among the NHL’s elite. In fact, no player has collected more points (47) than he has since then.

[content-ads]We know that in Montreal, Suzuki is the club’s most important player. After all, since February, he’s been the NHL’s leading scorer. And even since the start of 2025, he’s trailed only David Pastrnak, Nikita Kucherov and Nathan MacKinnon in terms of points.

Let’s not forget that not so long ago, there were doubts around town as to whether Suzuki was really capable of becoming a first center on a good team. He’s no better than Connor McDavid or Auston Matthews, of course. But to see him ahead of those guys in terms of points in an ever-expanding sample size is very, very impressive.spacer title=’Overtime’]- Indeed.

– That was something.

– He’s doing a great job.

– Happy listening.

– It’s (unfortunately) true.
