Diaz and Timberlake Confirm Split

A joint statement from the two announced the news, saying, "It has always been our preference not to comment on the status of our relationship but, out of respect for the time we’ve spent together, we feel compelled to do so now, in light of recent speculation and the number of inaccurate stories that are being reported by the media. We have, in fact, ended our romantic relationship, and have done so mutually and as friends, with continued love and respect for one another."

Diaz and Timberlake began dating in 2003.

For several days, talk of the split has been on the lips of everyone in Hollywood.  Rumours have also been circulating that Timberlake is now involved with actress Scarlett Johansson, who recently starred in one of the singer’s videos.

Britney Spears Has a New Man

The model’s agent confirmed the news to People magazine.  The two spent last weekend together in Marina Del Rey, California.

Brandi Lord, a spokesperson for Cohen, revealed that the two began dating, "recently…within the last month. He’s got a great heart and a good family, and he was raised well. He’s a gentleman."

Lord insists Cohen isn’t after the singer for her fame adding, "(He) is not a player. (He) is not out to get a name for himself."

Drew Barrymore Is Now Single

After five years together, the 31 year-old actress and the 26 year-old rocker have decided to separate.

A friend of the Strokes drummer told Us Weekly, "Drew said they needed some time off.  Fab is now living back in his old apartment."

Rumours of trouble between the two began to circulate in February 2005 when the actress said that she was not ready to marry Moretti.  According to another source, this is not the first time that the two have split and later reconciled.

Brooke Burke and David Charvet Welcome Baby

Burke, 35, gave birth Monday in Santa Monica, California to the couple’s first child.  According to a spokesperson for the new parents, both mother and baby are doing well.

The baby is the third child of Burke, who is already the mother of two daughters from a previous relationship.

Burke and Charvet became engaged last summer and plan to wed in the spring.

Brooke Burke is the hostess of the American television series Rock Star: Supernova.  Charvet is best known for his work in the former television series Baywatch.

Meryl Streep Joins Mamma Mia!

The star of the film The Devil Wears Prada was at the top of the producers’ wish list.  Judy Craymer, who originally came up with the musical concept, explained, "She was always at the top of our wish list, and she encapsulates the spirit and energy and has the powerhouse qualities that character requires."

Although Streep has starred in several films and earned two Oscars, she has never starred in a musical.

Mamma Mia! includes 22 songs from the group ABBA, including Dancing Queen, Take a Chance on Me and The Winner Takes It All.

Filming on the project is expected to begin this year.

Marcia Cross Ordered to Bed

Following the recommendations of her doctor, the star of television’s Desperate Housewives will be staying off of her feet.

Cross’ spokesperson, Heidi Slan, told Access Hollywood, "Marcia Cross has been put on bed rest due to the fact that she is pregnant with twins.  This is a precautionary measure only."

The 44 year-old actress is pregnant for the first time.  Cross married Tom Mahoney, 48, last June.

Due to the decision of the doctors, the producers of Desperate Housewives have decided to turn Cross’ home into the Bree Van De Kamp residence for two days to shoot scenes.  Also, the bed rest will mean that Cross will be unable to attend the Golden Globes on January 15.  The actress has been nominated for the best television actress title.

Axl Rose Back in Recording Studio

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the singer has been in town since Sunday to put the final touches on his album.  Rose is staying at the Palms Hotel, where he has moved into a studio apartment.

If all goes well, Chinese Democracy, which has been in the works for six years, will be released on March 6. 

Journalist Mick Wall, formerly of Kerrang! magazine, will be publishing a non-authorized biography of Rose on May 4, entitled Axl Rose – The Unauthorized Biography.  According to its editor, the book will be, "a no-holds-barred study of the troubled life and turbulent career of the group’s singer and leader."

The book will cover questions of the abuse of the singer as a child, his problems with the law, and the endless efforts to complete Chinese Democracy.

Paula Abdul Joins Bratz: The Movie

The Straight Up singer, who has been a judge on American Idol since 2002, will be in the film adaptation of the popular Bratz dolls.

Abdul’s role is not yet known, but she will also be an executive producer for the project and help with discovering new talents and casting.

Bratz: The Movie will follow the story of four adolescent girls from different backgrounds who are separated by cliques at school.  They soon discover that they aren’t so different, and band together as Bratz.

Mamma Mia! Coming to the Silver Screen

According to the Hollywood Reporter, theatre director Phillida Lloyd is being considered for the direction of the screen adaptation.  Lloyd has directed the stage presentations in both London and New York.

The musical, which features 22 songs from the group ABBA, tells the story of the wedding of a young girl in Greece, who has never met her father.  She invites all three of the men who could be her father to the ceremony.

Since its first presentation in London in 1999, the musical has generated more than one billion dollars around the world.
