Take That Releases New Disc

Before their split in 1996, Take That was recognised as the only all male singing and dancing group since the Beatles. 

The new disc from the now-foursome, Beautiful World, was released this week and shot to number three on the English music charts.  The remaining bandmates, Mark Owen, Gary Barlow, Jason Orange and Howard Donald, all contributed to the writing of the eleven songs on the new studio album.

Watch the Trailer for Smokin’ Aces

The new action/comedy was directed by Joe Carnahan (Narc).  Smokin’ Aces is the story of Buddy Israel, an actor and magician-turned-gangster, who decides to turn on his mafia connections in Las Vegas.  When word spreads that he is going to testify, several hit-men are assigned the task of keeping him quiet.

Meryl Streep Joins Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon

According to Variety, Streep will play a government official who approves the transfer – or so-called rendition – of a bombing suspect to a Middle East country.

To be directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi), Rendition will begin filming in Los Angeles in the next few days before moving on to a location in South Africa.

Rod Stewart and Rachel Hunter Divorce

The Superior Court in Las Angeles finalised the divorce on November 2.  No financial details were made available to the public.

Model Rachel Hunter, 37, and the 61 year-old singer, were married in 1990.  They have two children together.

Since the separation from Hunter, Stewart has proposed to model Penny Lancaster, 35.  Stewart and Lancaster also have a child together, and plan to marry now that his divorce is final.

Nicole Kidman Tops Highest Paid List

The 39 year-old star now earns $17 million per picture.  Kidman beat competition from Reese Witherspoon, who topped the list last year with $15 million per film, and Renee Zellweger, who also earned $15 million per film.

For the first time in five years, Julia Roberts did not make the list at all, although she dominated the tally for several years.  Roberts has decided to take time away from her acting career to raise her twins.

The co-stars of the Charlie’s Angels franchise, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz, were in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively, each with $15 million per production.  The list continued with Halle Berry ($14m), Charlize Theron ($10m), Angelina Jolie ($10m), Kirsten Dunst ($8m), and Jennifer Aniston ($8m).

Celine Dion Cancels Concerts

The 38 year-old star, who has been performing her A New Day show at her permanent home in Las Vegas, is suffering from a respiratory infection.  Dion is being treated for Mycoplasma bronchitis, and has been ordered to rest during her recovery. 

The singer’s concerts have been canceled through Sunday, after which Dion was scheduled for a holiday break before returning to her show on December 28.

The last time that Celine Dion canceled her show was last April.  The singer began her contract with Caesars Palace in March, 2003, and will finish her Las Vegas shows next year.

The star of the films Mean Girls, Freaky Friday and Just My Luck, among others, recently posed for the brand’s spring, 2007 collection.

The company, which is a sister brand of Prada, creates designs for young women at more reasonable prices.

Christina Aguilera Joins Roberto Cavalli

The singer, who begins her tour in February, has chosen the Italian designer to exclusively create the wardrobe for the show.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, the star hopes to wear designs inspired by the 1940s and 1950s for her Back to Basics Tour.

The singer will wear a black satin smoking jacket, white bustier, and other items from the era.

Owen Wilson Is Still Available

For several days, the tabloids have been reporting that Wilson and Hudson are engaged.  The two stars, who met on the set of the film You, Me & Dupree, remain only friends.

Wilson was recently spotted shopping for jewellery with his mother in Dallas, Texas.  Speculations that the actor was shopping for an engagement ring soon followed.

Kate Hudson separated from her husband, singer Chris Robinson, last September.  Hudson and Wilson have been seen together frequently since then.  A spokesperson for Wilson said of the shopping trip, "Owen’s mother was looking for jewelry for herself."

Watch the Trailer for Dead Girl

The drama begins when the body of a dead woman (played by Brittany Murphy) is discovered near Los Angeles.  A complex chase for the murderer follows.

In addition to Brolin and Murphy, Dead Girl also stars Toni Collette, Marcia Gay Harden, James Franco, Rose Byrne, Giovanni Ribisi, Kerry Washington, Mary Steenburgen, Mary Beth Hurt, Piper Laurie and Nick Searcy.
