Britney Spears Files for Divorce

Spears filed official divorce documents on Tuesday in a Los Angeles court.  Here are the reasons being mentioned by the American press for the split.

According to Access Hollywood, the singer says that she really tried to make the marriage work, but Federline wasn’t cooperating.

Us Weekly is reporting that the divorce papers were filed following a very troubling week.  Jounalist Ken Baker explained, "On Halloween night, Kevin had his big release party for his debut hip hop CD in LA at club Xenii.  Britney showed up. They didn’t interact and I’m told she left the party in tears, stormed out and didn’t even say goodbye to Kevin."

According to Baker, the rapper left Los Angeles last Wednesday for New York to promote his album.  Britney delayed her departure by one day.  They also stayed in different hotels, Britney at the Regency and Kevin at the Times Square Double Tree.  Spears also did not show for his release party at Club Stereo.

Monday, Federline travelled to Toronto to continue his record promotion.  Spears remained in New York where she appeared on the David Letterman Show.

Hello! magazine reveals that before being interviewed by Letterman, Spears was seen ice-skating and holding the hand of an unidentified friend.

The official divorce documents cite irreconciliable differences for the reason for the split.  Spears and Federline were married in September of 2004.  They have two sons, Sean Preston, 1, and Jayden James, who was born on September 12.
