Evenescence will release their disc The Open Door on October 3.

After winning the Best New Artist Grammy, the band’s guitarist, co-founder, and principal songwriter, Ben Moody, left the group. 

Despite Moody’s departure, singer Amy Lee feels that the band is stronger than ever.

Jennifer Lopez Dumps Manager

The decision was announced just weeks before the star’s two movies, Bordertown and El Cantante, will be released.

Lopez, 37, will also be launching a new CD of Spanish-language songs, Como Ama Una Mujer, in November.

According to the management company that she has just fired, The Firm, the decision was made due to differing styles and expectations.

Elijah Wood Enters World of Music

Wood, who was one of the principal stars in The Lord of the Rings, has founded Simian Records.

On February 7, the label will release its first disc with the band Apples in Stereo.  The album will be titled New Magnetic Wonder.  The CD of 14 songs and 12 instrumental pieces present several collaborations.

Wood will soon be returning to the silver screen, but only in voice.  The actor provides the voice of Mumble, a penguin, in the film Happy Feet, which opens in November.

Steven Tyler Fighting Illness

The rocker, who is the fathre of actress Liv Tyler, revealed the news himself during an interview with Access Hollywood.

The infection of the blood, which can be fatal, should now be totally eliminated from Tyler’s blood stream after intensive treatment.

Since September 14, Aerosmith has toured American cities with their Route of All Evil Tour.

Mel Gibson Speaks Out Against Iraq War

The Australian star was at the Austin Fantastic Fest in Texas, a film festival, to promote his latest film, Apocalypto.

The 50 year-old director drew a parallel between the fallen ancient Mayan culture depicted in his film, to that of the current situation in Iraq.  Gibson said, "The precursors to a civilization that’s going under are the same, time and time again."

Gibson added, "What’s human sacrifice if not sending guys off to Iraq for no reason?" 

The film Apocalypto opens in theatres on December 8.

U2 Talks ABout U2

U2, one of the most important musical groups of all time, will release their book, U2 On U2, on Tuesday, September 26.  The book, containing 1,500 photographs, covers the 30 year span of the band’s career.  The muscial group began at Mount Temple school in Dublin in 1975.  The four bandmates were first school friends.

U2 has sold more than 130 million records around the world.  The band, consisting of Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Laryy Mullen, Jr., were at the Waterstone Library this weekend for the launch of their book.

Christina Aguilera Talks About Acting

The young star was interviewed for the October issue of the magazine, which hits newsstands this week.

The singer said that she wants to keep certain aspects of her life to herself, saying, "My marriage is sacred to me, and I feel that they (the media) would exploit it."

Aguilera reveals in the interview that she is interested in acting, although she turned down an offer to star in her own reality series.  Aguilera added, "I think so many people who start off as musicians and cross over just end up playing themselves. To me, that’s not a challenge whatsoever."

Simple Plan Works on Next Album

Following the immense success of their disc Still Not Getting Any, and a world tour, the guys want a well-deserved break before recording their next CD.

The band’s drummer, Chuck Comeau, has been writing on his blog that they are all enjoying their free time, although they definitely make time for their music as well.  "we’ve been writing new songs every single day since we stopped touring," he wrote in his blog. "Writing a record is not the easiest thing in the world, and we’re working our asses off to make sure we bring you an album that we will be proud of and that hopefully you will love."

"It was hard at first because we had to try to figure out what we wanted to say and where we wanted to go with the music," Comeau’s entry continued. "But we’re finally getting into a groove right now and it’s starting to really come together.  I’m really excited about the new music. I can’t wait for you guys to hear it. Please be patient … it’s coming."

Courtney Love to Make Documentary

The star, who was the lead singer of the band Hole, and who is the widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, will be sharing her story of how she battled drug addiction and planned her comeback.

The project is currently untitled, but will appear on Britain’s Channel 4.  In the documentary, we will see Love recording her new album, and trying to build new relationships.

Love is known for having a history of drug abuse.  She was sent to a detoxification centre as a result of an arrest.

Keith Richards Shoots Pirates Cameo

The musician plays the father of Johnny Depp’s character in the third film of the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.

Because of Richards’ drunken state, the film’s director nearly had to cancel the shoot. 

Actor Bill Nighy, who plays Davy Jones in the film, revealed the story to Empire magazine. 

Richards, 62, who had to be held up during the scene, told the director, "If you wanted straight, then you got the wrong man."
