Cate Blanchett to Star in Cancer Vixen

The film tells the story of Marisa Acocella Marchetto, a cartoonist for Glamour and the New Yorker.

Blanchett will play Marchetto, who falls in love with a restauranteur and is planning a wedding when she is diagnosed with breast cancer.

No other details are available at the moment for the project.

Katie Holmes May Play Victoria Beckham

Holmes, who is engaged to marry Tom Cruise, and Beckham, who is a former Spice Girl, have become good friends.

According to England’s Daily Star, the 27 year-old actress who starred in Batman Begins and Dawson’s Creek has already started practicing for the role.  A source told the paper, "Katie is perfect to play a young Posh and has been working on her accent."

It was Tom Cruise who convinced the English soccer star to agree to the film project.  The Hollywood star will not be playing Beckham because he is too physically different for the role.

Watch the Trailer for The Good Shepherd

The film is the second time for the actor to be in the director’s chair.  De Niro directed the film A Bronx Tale in 1993. 

The Good Shepherd stars Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, William Hurt, John Turturro, Alec Baldwin, Billy Crudup, Michael Gambon, Gabriel Macht, Tammy Blanchard, Vladimir Mashkov, Joe Pesci and De Niro himself.

The spy dram tells the story of the tumultuous birth of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Kevin Federline Collaborates with Britney

The album, entitled Playing With Fire, will be released on October 31.  Among the 11 songs on the collection, the song Crazy features Britney Spears.

Federline will also be offering fans a chance to pre-order the CD.  The first 500 people to advance order the disc will receive an autographed picture, and also a chance to spend a weekend in Los Angeles with Federline and Spears.

Matt LeBlanc Divorce Finalised

The star, who represented himself in court, obtained a quick divorce from a Los Angeles court.  LeBlanc was married for three years to Melissa McKnight.

LeBlanc and McKnight are the parents of a two year-old girl, Marina.  The actor has agreed to pay for his child’s private education, future uncovered medical expenses, and child support in the amount of $15,000 per month.

LeBlanc and McKnight signed a pre-nuptial agreement before their marriage which allowed for a lump-sum payment in lieu of spousal support.

Whitney Houston Prepares Her Return

The star, who announced last week that she was separating from her husband, Bobby Brown, plans to release a new album in the next few months.

The last CD from the diva was a holiday album in 2003, entitled One Wish: The Holiday Album.

According to the New York Post, the star in determined to make a strong come back.  She is working with Clive Davis, one of the most respected producers in the music industry.  Davis is the head of CBS, Columbia and Arista Records.

Clive Davis said, "She looks radiant and is clearly together. She is talking enthusiastically and is articulate. We are going to make a great album. In my opinion, the best singers in the world are Aretha Franklin and Whitney. That’s not to knock Mariah Carey. Mariah is a friend of mine, but I think Mariah would even say those two are the best."

Cameron Diaz Accuses Photographer

According to People magazine, Diaz and her boyfriend, singer Justin Timberlake, were pursued by a photographer who was chasing them by car.  Police have confirmed that they have opened an investigation.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening.  The celebrity couple were leaving the home of a friend when a photographer jumped from the bushes.

According to early reports, the man was intent on snapping a photo of the two.  The man then followed in his car in hot pursuit.

Police explained that there has not been an arrest in the case pending further investigation.

Pitt and Jolie Offer $1M Each

The news was confirmed by a representative for the couple.  The two organisations are Global Action for Children and Medicins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders).

In a statement, the actress explained, "In the most troubled parts of the world — places that much of the world has abandoned — MSF is always there.  I have seen these brave men and women working in war zones and horrific conditions and I deeply admire them."  

Angelina Jolie is a Good Will Ambassador for the United Nations.

Jolie and Pitt met while filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith last year.  The two stars are the parents of two adopted children and one biological child.

MTV Europe Music Awards Reveal Nominees

With chances to win in four categories, the band is expected to steal the show at the ceremony which will take place on November 2 in Copenhagen.

The Chili Peppers are competing for the title in the Best Rock Group, Best Disc, and Best Song (Dani California) categories.

Several other artists received three nominations, including Madonna, Shakira, Nelly Furtado, Christina Aguilera, Kanye West and Muse.

The evening will be hosted by Justin Timberlake.  The singer will also perform during the ceremony.

A Tribute for Steve Irwin

Australian television broadcast the service for Irwin, which took place at Crocoseum stadium in Queensland.  The 44 year-old star was best known for his life-threatening closeness with dangerous animals.

The Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, led the tribute, saying that Irwin had taught people to love and respect all creature, great and small.

In addition to Howard, film stars Russell Crowe and Cameron Diaz attended the tribute.

Steve Irwin died after being spiked in the chest by a stingray.
