Led Zeppelin Honoured by Peers

Created in 2004, the Hall of Fame recognises artists who have made exceptional contributions to musical culture in the United Kingdom.

In addition to Led Zeppelin, singer Rod Stewart, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, Dusty Springfield and Sir George Martin will also honoured.

A ceremony will be conducted on November 14 for the official inductions.  Some of the other artists who have been inducted in the past include the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley and Pink Floyd.

Jack Nicholson May Be Hospitalised

The 69 year-old star is apparently suffering from a mysterious illness.  According to the New York Post, the About Schmidt star may have been struck by an infection.

A spokesperson for the actor said, "I do not comment on Jack’s personal life."

Nicholson, who is a three-time Oscar winner, begins shooting the film The Bucket List next month.

Juliette Lewis Leaves Hollywood

According to Teletext, Lewis is planning to put all of her energy into her music career, with her band The Licks.  The actress had a very successful film life, starring in more than 50 films.

Lewis, 33, revealed, "To me, music is a more complete creative expression.  I never was in love with acting.  It’s a marriage that’s a good fit but it doesn’t set me free in the way music does.  It’s also less intellectual than movie-making."

This Week’s Music Releases

The former ‘N Sync singer is launching his CD FutureSex/LoveSounds.  The sexy theme is present throughout the disc’s twelve songs.  Timberlake is hoping to repeat the success he had with his last release in 2002.  The star used the best directors and worked with some other artists, including TI, Three Six Mafia and Hezekiah Walker, on the album. 

John Mayer is also releasing his disc Continuum this week, which brings a blues and R&B feel.

    50 Cent Arrested

    50 Cent (whose real name is Curtis Jackson) was arrested while driving his Lamborghini.  Authorities stated that the rapper was dangerously changing lanes, and was driving without insurance, with an expired driving permit, and no registration for his car.

    50 Cent was detained by police until a friend arrived with paperwork proving that the rapper actually did own the car that he was driving. 

    50 Cent, 31, has sold more than 22 million discs during his career.

    Deauville Crowns Winners

    The jury, led by director and actress Nicole Garcia, chose the film by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris.  Little Miss Sunshine was presented for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival, and was five years in the making.

    Starring Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette and Steve Carell, Little Miss Sunshine is the story of the Hoover family.  The father, Richard, is a motivational speaker who lives his life by using his "9 Steps of Success" mentality.  The family also includes a suicidal brother, and children who aren’t exactly a parent’s dream.

    The best screenplay honours went to Laurie Collyer for her film Sherrybaby.

    Kurt Cobain’s Daughter Not Interested in Music

    Although both her parents are icons in rock music, particularly her father, Frances Bean Cobain, does not wish to follow in their steps.

    In an interview with British magaizine Elle, Frances Bean Cobain, revealed that she has other interests.

    "I’d much rather act and I really like photography," explained the fourteen year old.

    This teen expressed an in terest in directing, as well as fashion.

    This interest in fashion is seen through her own wardrobe which contains 137 pairs of shoes. "I counted them, which is pathetic. … And I’ve got over 200 pairs of jeans and at least 50 designer handbags."

    A Special Guitar for the Singer of Green Day

    The reputable guitar fabricant, Gibson, has created a guitar for the singer of the punk-rock trio, Green Day, called the Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature model guitar.

    It will be distributed in stores in the next few days, and may be yours for $2100.  It will be a 50’s, Paul Jr., design guitar.

    The Armstrong guitars will be available in three colours, with a leopard print on the inside.

    Uma Thurman and Ex Back Together

    The 36-year-old actress of the movie Pulp Fiction, and the 48-year-old hotelier, were seen vacationing in Denmark.

    The couple broke up last March.  However, during the filming of the promotions for My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Thurman indicated she may have gotten back together with her fiancé.

    Last Wednesday, the couple was spotted walking and holding hands in Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen.

    The Church of Scientology May Help Tom Cruise

    This decision is the result of a contract rupture that happened recently between Cruise/Wagner Productions and Paramount Pictures. 

    Paramount decided to put an end to the partnership that they have had with Cruise’s company for the last 14 years.  This partnership has permitted Tom Cruise, and his partner, Paula Wagner, to benefit from enormous production budgets.

    According to MSNBC, the Church of Scientology would be ready to back Cruise/Wagner Productions if they are unable to find another source.

    This information was denied by a spokesperson for Cruise/Wagner Productions.
