This Week’s CD Releases

For Simpson, A Public Affair is her fifth album, and a very important one, as she wrote nine of the 12 songs on the collection.  A limited edition DVD offers her fans two additional songs.

Bob Dylan, one of the most important recording artists of our time, is releasing his first disc in five years, entitled Modern Times.  The collection of 10 songs which were recorded last winter marks the 44th album for the musician, who plays keyboard, guitar and harmonica.

    Matthew Broderick Falls From Horse

    The 44 year-old star of Inspector Gadget, Godzilla, and Biloxi Blues, among others, suffered a broken collarbone on Sunday.  Broderick was with his wife, actress Sarah Jessica Parker, when the accident happened.

    A spokesperson for Broderick confirmed that the actor was taken to the hospital after the fall, and reported, "He’s fine. He’s just been in a little bit of pain."

    Kevin Federline to Appear on CSI

    For the rapper who is just launching his first CD, Playing with Fire, in October, opportunities are quickly presenting themselves.  Federline, who has a son with Spears, and is expecting another child, also performed live at the Teen Choice Awards last Sunday.

    The former dancer, who dreams of becoming a star, will now be testing his talents as an actor.  In an interview with People magazine, he explained, "This is pretty much my first time acting. It’s the first time I’ve actually had a speaking role."

    "I was doing stuff for the Teen Choice Awards and got the call while we were rehearsing and I pissed in my pants! I was excited right off the bat.  It’s the only show that I really, really watch," he added.

    The CSI episode that the 28 year-old will appear in will be televised in October.  Federline will play an arrogant adolescent who is taken in by Nick Stokes (George Eads) and Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan).

    Listen to Jessica Simpson’s New Disc

    A Public Affair will be in stores on October 29 in North America.  The fifth studio CD is an important one for Simpson, who wrote nine of the twelve songs in the collection.

    The next few weeks will be very busy for Jessica Simpson.  In addition to the album launch, the pretty blonde will be starring in the film Employee of the Month, with co-stars Dane Cook and Andy Dick.

    Angelina Jolie Avoids Her Father

    Jolie and her boyfriend, Brad Pitt, were attending a party last Wednesday in Hollywood when the actress saw that her father had already gone in the door.

    According to the New York Post, Jolie stayed in the car with her three children while Pitt went into the party, being thrown by his Ocean’s Twelve co-star, Scott Caan, who was celebrating his 30th birthday.

    When the actress realized that her fathre had left the party, she snuck in the back door.  Voight and Jolie have not spoken since 2002.

    Jessica Simpson’s Style Criticised

    For Lagerfeld, the celebrated designer who has worked with Chanel, Dior, Chloe and Fendi, Simpson and other stars have no style.  The German designer said of Simpson, "Ecch, I’m not that impressed."

    Lagerfeld, who speaks his mind freely, also spoke about twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, saying, "They don’t have a strong enough image. They still have to make the movie that everybody remembers."

    Kevin Federline Happy With His Performance

    The dancer-turned-rapper performed live for the first time last Sunday.  Despite severe criticism, Federline is happy with his performance.

    "I’m happy," Federline told People magazine, adding, "I think I pulled it off pretty well. (But) I’m overly critical of myself."

    Federline performed his single Lose Control, a song from his first album which will be released in October.

    No Delays for Beyonce Knowles

    The singer’s father, Mathew Knowles, confirmed the information to Billboard.  The latest solo disc from the former Destiny’s Child singer will be released on September 5, the 25th birthday of the star.

    Knowles’ previous release, Dangerously in Love, earned the singer five Grammy Awards in 2004, and sold more than 11 million copies.

    Plenty of Projects for Aerosmith

    Despite reports that the compilation album won’t be out until 2007, Aerosmith has announced that the CD will be in stores by October 10.  The collection, entitled Devil’s Got a New Disguise, will also include two new songs.

    Guitarist Joe Perry told Billboard magazine, "We were working on getting a studio record out, but we just couldn’t do it. There wasn’t enough time."

    Perry added that the band plans to return to the studio in February to record more songs. 

    For now, Aerosmith will join Motley Crue on the road for a North American tour that begins on September 5.  The two bands will each perform for 90 minutes at each concert.

    Amber Valletta Enters Detox Centre

    The model, who has worked with Calvin Klein, Gucci and Versace, among others, is being treated at the Meadows clinic in Arizona.  The 32 year-old actress, who starred in the films Hitch, Transporter 2 and What Lies Beneath, is said to be suffering from stress.

    According to the New York Daily News, the exact reason for the model’s detoxification is unknown.

    The Meadows clinic is well known for treating celebrities, including Kate Moss, Matthew Perry, Whitney Houston and Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean.
