New Music Releases

Outkast is releasing their soundtrack from the film Idlewild, which also features Macy Gray.  In 2003, Outkast earned Best Album and Best Rap Album awards at the Grammy Awards.

Paris Hilton’s first disc was preceded by her single Stars Are Blind, which has been a club hit.  A limited edition DVD for the album comes complete with 30 minutes of interviews and studio clips from the actress and heiress.

    Daniel Craig to Star with Kidman and Green

    The Golden Compass is the first film in a possible trilogy.  According to Variety, Craig would play the role of Lord Asriel, a mysterious adventurer who is the uncle of Lyra Belacqua, a young woman who crosses into a parallel universe to save her best friend.

    For Craig, the film will be another opportunity to work with French actress Eva Green.  The two stars worked together in the 21st James Bond film, Casino Royale.  Craig has also worked with Kidman in The Visiting, which will be released next year.

    The three stars begin filming on September 4 in England.  The Golden Compass is expected to be in theatres on November 16, 2007.

    The Smashing Pumpkins Return to the Studio

    In a message published on the band’s web site, the group announced that they are back in the studio.  The group, which is led by singer Billy Corgan, plans to release their first CD in seven years.  The message also reported that former Queen producer, Roy Thomas Baker, will be working with the band.

    Some original members of The Smashing Pumpkins have left the band, and it is unknown who will be joining Corgan on the album.

    In June, 2005, Billy Corgan placed a full-page ad in the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times stating that he would rebuild the band.

    Britney Spears Doesn’t Like Her Body

    The star, who will give birth in the next few weeks, is desperate to regain her form after the baby.  The Toxic singer’s first child, Sean Preston, was born last September, so Spears has been pregnant for 18 of the past 21 months.

    The singer, who admits that her second pregnancy wasn’t planned, said, "I feel like I’ve been pregnant for 10 years!"

    Immediately after the birth of baby number two, Spears plans to get back in shape.  She explained, "I’m so excited about getting my body back and getting a routine scheduled. I’m definitely going to start working out in a huge way."

    Mel Gibson Gets Probation

    The court decision was announced today in Malibu, California.  The 50 year-old actor was not present at the sentencing.

    Gibson was arrested at the end of July for driving while intoxicated, and the actor made several anti-semetic comments during the arrest.  The Brave Heart star later made a public apology.  No sanctions have been made in regard to his comments.

    Cena is making his cinema debut in the role of John Triton, an American Marine returning home from war.  When he realizes that his wife (played by Kelly Carlson) has been kidnapped, he snaps back into action.

    Justin Timberlake Prepares for World Tour

    AEG Live, who produced the singer’s 2003 tour, announced that Timberlake will be performing live from January through October, 2007.

    The singer will launch his second solo album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, on September 12.

    Fans of the former N’Sync star can next see Timberlake perform at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 31.

    Johnny Depp To Work With Tim Burton

    The duo, who teamed for the successful films Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow and Ed Wood, among others, are now working on a cinema adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim musical.

    Depp will play Todd, the legendary London barber who murdered his clients by slitting their throats.

    The musical opened on Broadway in 1979, and has earned eight Tony Awards.

    Filming for Sweeney Todd begins early next year.

    Is Kate Hudson Already In Love?

    The American magazine Us Weekly is reporting that Hudson, 27, is dating her You, Me and Dupree co-star, actor Owen Wilson.

    According to the tabloid, the affair began in the beginning of the summer.  In addition, Hudson was never visited on the set of the film by Robinson, who is the singer of the Black Crowes.

    A source told the magazine that the actress has spent many nights at Wilson’s Santa Monica, California home.
