Scarlett Johansson Snubs Andrew Lloyd Webber

The 21-year old star has politely refused to play the leading role in the musical The Sound Of Music.

The decision of the actress, who starred in the movies Lost in Translation, Ghost World and The Island, among others, is surprising since she had accepted the role after an audition.

For his part, the producer blames Johansson’s agent for this surprise decision: "Her people were not for the idea. It became clear that it wasn’t going to work because the demands became so ridiculous," he explained.

Lloyd Webber states that the fee he offered Johansson was quite low compared to what she gets for a movie.

As far as the actress is concerned, the explanation is quite different: "The real reason why the negotiations stopped was the run of the play interfered with the production of one of the films she was slated to accomplish."
