Fire Destroys James Bond Set

Pinewood Shepperton Studio was engulfed in flames during the early morning hours, where a replica of the city of Venice was constructed for the film.  Luckily for the film’s producers, the scenes had been completed from that section of staging, and the set was in the process of being dismantled.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.  The fire marks the second time for a James Bond set to go up in smoke.  In 1984, the set of the film The Spy Who Loved Me was also destroyed by fire.

Casino Royale, the 21st James Bond film, stars a new actor in the title role.  Daniel Craig has replaced Pierce Brosnan in the role of Agent 007.  The film is expected to be released next November.
