Supreme Court Hears Anna Nicole Smith’s Case

The saga of the inheritance of Anna Nicole Smith has now been brought before the highest American court.

The blond ex-playmate wants to have the inheritance that her former husband left behind.

Smith was married to J. Howard Marshall, who was 63 years her senior.   The billionaire, ranked 181st wealthiest man in the United  States, left her jewellery, gifts, and a residence valued at over 6 million dollars.

Following the death of her husband, there has been an ongoing battle between Smith and Marshall’s son regarding the remainder of the inheritance.

After a first legal battle, which Smith lost, a California court overturned the decision, siding with Smith.

Another appeals court then overturned this latter decision, arguing that the California court had no jurisdiction in this case.

Smith is going to be heard today by nine judges of the Supreme Court.

Madonna Tops Charts in UK

Madonna’s newest single, Sorry, is the 12th consecutive number one hit on the charts in the UK.

This is twenty years after her song Into the Groove was number one on the charts.

Elvis Presley still holds the record for the most hits.  He had 21 hits in Britain.

The Beatles had 17 singles that were number one on the charts.

Pamela Anderson Hosting the Juno Awards

The Canadian star that became well known with her part in the television series Baywatch, will be sharing the stage with other artists such as Coldplay, Nickelback and Michael Buble.

At a press conference, the actress stated that she often listens to music done by fellow Canadians.  It makes her dance, and no matter where she finds herself, Canadian music makes her feel like she’s at home.

The award ceremony will be held on April 2.

Rolling Stones Playing in China

In 2003, the group cancelled their Asian tour due to the SARS epidemic, that had affected many countries in Asia.

According to the Internet site Grand Stage of Shanghai, the group will be playing in China in April.

The site stated that this first concert in China should not be missed.  Tickets will be selling between $38 and $375.

Leonardo DiCaprio Producing Kite

Kite is a movie about the California prisons, filled with ganga and corrupted guards.

The movie is based on a true story distributed by Warner.  The timeline for filming has not been determined.

The actor is currently shooting Black Diamonds, directed by Ed Zwick.  It will be in theatres in December.

Michael Douglas Suing Two Companies

The 61-year-old star is suing Family Television Studios and Paradigm Media Group.  Both companies are located in Florida.

According to the actor, he had accepted to collaborate in a project with both companies, called Learning About.  He stipulated that this project was educational and non-commercial.

The celebrity claims that the recordings were commercial, and were for the companies’ own gains.

He is asking that all the profits generated be paid back, is also demanding a financial compensation of $75 000, and that they pay his legal fees.

Pete Doherty Suspected of Car Theft

Doherty, 26, is the ex-fiancé of supermodel Kate Moss.

The singer was arrested on Monday night in Birmingham, along with two men, ages 18 and 19. 

According to the authorities, the three men were arrested, and are the main suspects in a car theft that took place in London.

The suspects were released while the police continue their investigation.

According to a witness, the police chased Doherty who was driving on the wrong side of the road. 

This is not the singer’s first legal problem.  He was recently arrested for seven counts of drug possession.  He has not yet been tried.

Eminem May Be Suing the Government

American authorities are making prisoners in Guantanamo Bay listen to Eminem as a means of punishment.

It is the director, Michael Winterbottoom of the movie, The Road to Guantanamo,  that discovered this practice in the prison X-Ray.

According to the director, this rapper’s music is the most used against prisoners.

Fabulous Comeback for Kate Moss

According to IOL, the runway model may accept a $2.6 million contract.

Moss’ situation has drastically changed in the last few months.  There was a huge scandal when a newspaper published an article about cocaine use.

The English model may see her salary go up to $15 million per year.  This is almost double what she was earning prior to the scandal.

Other clients that decided to give her a second chance after the scandal included, Virgin Mobile, Stella McCartney and Bvlgari Jewellery.

Rumours of Marriage for Nicole Kidman

For the last few weeks, rumours have been circulating that the Australian couple could be married in Sydney on March 11.

The star’s publicist, Wendy Day, was very clear in her interview with ContactMusic.  She explained, "Nicole Kidman is not getting married to Keith Urban at a Catholic church in Sydney on March 11. I know of no wedding. I know of no wedding date. I know of no wedding plans."

The celebrity couple have been dating since last year.  They made their first public appearance at the Grammy Awards.
