Beyonce Knowles Wants to Take a Break

The 23 year-old singer, originally with the group Destiny’s Child, told the New York Post that she will be slowing down for a while. She is now working on the film Dreamgirls, but plans to be finished with the project in January.

The star, who is dating rapper Jay-Z, also talked of keeping up with her former band-mates. She explained, "One day, hopefully, we’ll all be married. We’ve talked about being in each other’s weddings."

"We always said we want to have kids at the same time, so they’re all the same age and would be able to grow up together."

Earlier this year, the trio announced that they are going their separate ways after the end of their tour.

Hong Kong Honours Bruce Lee

The bronze statue will be erected in honour of "the most brilliant Chinese movie star of the century".

Fans of the actor were invited to choose their favorite of three different models of the statue.

Bruce Lee died in 1973 at the age of 32. He was born in the United States, but moved to Hong Kong at an early age.

The actor is credited with bringing action films featuring martial arts to the world. A few of his films include Fists of Fury, Enter the Dragon, The Chinese Connection and Return of the Dragon.

Mel Gibson To Direct Apolcalypto

In addition to directing the movie, Gibson also wrote the script. The historical film is set 3,000 years ago. However, the title means "new beginning" in Greek.

Other films that Gibson has directed include Braveheart and The Passion of the Christ.

Filming of Apocalypto is scheduled to begin in October in Mexico. Theatres are expected to present the movie in the summer of 2006.

Jessica Simpson Fears the Critics

The star, who makes her cinema debut in the film The Dukes of Hazzard, fears that critics will be hard on her because she’s not a true actress.

She explained, "I don’t want people walking out of a movie thinking I was trying to act or be some movie star. I want them to think, ‘That might make me like Jessica a little bit more.’"

Julia Roberts Driving Without a License Plate

The star was stopped Thursday while driving her Toyota Prius, and the registration for the vehicle had expired in April, 2005.

A local resident scoffs, "It’s ridiculous! While I understand it’s quite normal to be a few days late, three months is just crazy. If an everyday person with a 9-5 can remember to get it done within a timely fashion, a movie star with a staff to help remind her certainly should be able to."

According to California law, a person conducting a vehicle with expired registration must pay a 60% surcharge on the renewal of the license.

Courtney Love Taken By Ambulance

The star was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She has since been released and is recovering at home.

Love was attending a party organised at the Roosevelt Hotel on Thursday night when she became ill.

The star talked about the incident to the New York Daily News, "I don’t quite know what happened It was very hot I had two Diet Cokes I started feeling really woozy I decided to go to the private cabana that they’d given me to use I must have fainted."

"A friend called an ambulance, and I woke up in hospital on a breathing machine They didn’t keep me there long."

Although the authorities confirm that they responded to a call for a drug overdose, Love denied that her illness was caused by drugs. The singer – who had a negative drug test just last week – adamantly insisted, "I didn’t work for a year on sobriety to blow it You have my word on that."

Ashanti Ordered to Pay

A New York jury found the American singer guilty of breaking a contract with Genard Parker.

The producer recorded a few songs for the star before she went on to become a Grammy winner. Ashanti, then only 16, pleaded with Parker to help her find a record deal. When that happened, Genard allowed her to end her contract with him, with the agreement that he would produce two songs on her first disc. That never happened.

Lawyers for the singer stated that they will appeal the decision.
