Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Beta now available to everyone in Canada and the U.S.

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving Beta has been gradually rolling out across the continent over the past few years. Now, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the feature is available to everyone who purchased the option in North America.

“Tesla Full Self-Driving Beta is now available to anyone in North America who requests it from the car screen, assuming you have bought this option,” he wrote in a Tweet.

As of mid-September, ‘FSD Beta 10.69.2.2’ rolled out to over 160,000 vehicle owners in Canada and the United States. The company also loosened the safety score requirement to download FSD Beta from 100 to 80. However, as reported by Teslarati, users who haven’t yet clocked in 100 Autopilot miles, and have a safety score of under 80, have also reported receiving the FSD Beta.

Musk’s Tweet, saying, “Full Self-Driving Beta is now available to anyone in North America who requests it,” could indicate that the safety score and minimum miles requirement has been removed and that all Tesla drivers in the continent can now request it from the car screen.

This comes soon after Tesla unlocked Toronto’s downtown core as a full self-driving beta location earlier this week.

Apple reportedly keen to buy soccer club Manchester United

English football club Manchester United is currently on the market, and Apple has reportedly “expressed interest” in buying the soccer club.

One of the most popular and prestigious soccer clubs, Manchester United (or Man U for short), was purchased by U.S. billionaire Malcolm Glazer in 2005 for roughly £800 million (roughly $1.29 billion CAD). Glazer passed away in 2014, and passed on the club’s ownership to his six children, namely Avram, Joel, Kevin, Bryan, Darcie and Edward.

Subsequently, on Tuesday, November 22nd, Manchester United’s board announced that it is exploring “strategic alternatives to enhance the club’s growth.” “As part of this process, the Board will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the Company,” reads the news release.

As reported by credible sports-focused social media publisher SportBible, Apple is reportedly interested in buying the club.

The U.K’s DailyStar tabloid also reported about the Cupertino-based tech giant’s interest in buying the soccer giant. According to the publication, the club will reportedly cost Apple £5.8 billion (roughly $9.38 billion CAD). “The Glazers will spend the next month talking to interested parties before drawing up a shortlist of potential buyers,” reads the report.

According to MacroTrends, Apple’s net worth, as of November 2022, stands at a staggering $2.38 trillion, while its annual revenue for 2022 was $394.32 billion.

Adobe Creative Cloud Black Friday deals discounts Photoshop and more

If you’re trapped in Adobe’s ludicrously expensive toolset, Black Friday is the perfect time to renew your subscription.

The digital tool maker has its ‘All app’ plan discounted by 40 percent to $781 CAD. That said, if you can swing it, the student discount bundle is also on sale for 71 percent off. This brings the price down to a much more reasonable $251 per year.

For years after I finished school, I was able to get away with buying the student plan, which saved me a lot of money. If you can swing it, definitely find a way to pretend to be a student 👀.

Musk asks Twitter if he should grant ‘general amnesty’ to suspended accounts

Twitter owner Elon Musk is back with another poll to make another significant moderation decision, something he previously promised would happen after forming a “widely diverse” content moderation council.

This time around, Musk’s Twitter poll asks if Twitter should offer a “general amnesty” to suspended accounts. If Twitter users vote in favour of it, it seems Musk plans to let the accounts return to Twitter “provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam.” At the time of writing, there were three hours left on the poll, and the results were 72.3 percent yes and 27.7 percent no, with a little over 3 million votes.

Musk has already made several significant decisions after promising not to do so until after forming a moderation council. However, Musk reinstated several accounts over the weekend, including comedian Kathy Griffin (who was banned for impersonating Musk), right-wing parody outlet The Babylon Bee, and author Jordan Peterson (both of which had accounts locked for misgendering trans people). Musk also reinstated former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Twitter account after Twitter users narrowly voted in favour of it in a poll from Musk, although Trump declined to return to Twitter.

Like many things Musk does with Twitter, it feels like there’s little regard for the potential consequences of allowing suspended accounts back on the platform. Those accounts were suspended for a reason, and while some likely weren’t justified, plenty of suspensions were. Giving people a second chance is good, but this move will likely flood Twitter with less savoury accounts. That will likely spiral into more content that advertisers don’t like and more harassment of journalists, politicians, and other users, ultimately driving more people off the platform.

Whatever damage this move does to Twitter, Musk will likely just blame it on activists before tweeting another plan with little regard for consequences.

Apple’s failure to include charging bricks with iPhones leads to confiscations in Brazil

Brazil’s Ministry of Justice has seized iPhones from Apple retail stores nationwide.

Back in September, the regulator suspended the sale of iPhones that don’t come with charging bricks in the country. Apple said that removing charging bricks was intended to help the environment by reducing waste. However, Senacon, Brazil’s consumer protection agency, argued there were other ways for Apple to do this, such as by switching to USB-C.

Apple was fined R$12,275,500 (about $3.08 million CAD), but the move didn’t make the company comply.

According to Tecnoblog, the government has seized iPhones from various retail stores in Brazil’s capital, Brasilia.

The decision is being disputed in court, and the tech giant’s Brazil faction will continue selling iPhones until a decision is rendered.

God of War Ragnarök is PlayStation’s fastest-selling first party title

Sony’s Santa Monica Studio’s God of War Ragnarök is the fastest-selling first-party game in PlayStation’s history, and this is no shock.

Sony tweeted an infographic with the details, stating that the game has sold more than 5.1 million copies in its debut week, which also sets a God of War franchise record.

I’m absolutely thrilled to learn about all of this. God of War is probably among one the best games I’ve ever played, and I’m about three-quarters through Ragnarök.

Brad Shankar covered the game for MobileSyrup and said that it’s “a genuinely moving narrative and sweeping gameplay improvements across the board make Kratos’ latest outing an absolute masterpiece.”

Shankar and I also hosted a SyrupArcade Cast episode focused on God of War Ragnarök.

Netflix hiring jobs for ‘brand-new AAA PC’ game in first-generation of original titles

It looks like Netflix is trying to push its gaming business further.

The streaming giant recently posted job listings for a game director, art director and technical director at its Los Angeles-based studio, as first spotted by Mobilegamer.biz.

All roles mention that they involve working on “a brand-new AAA PC game.” Additionally, the game director role features details that mention that job involves being the “creative leader of one of Netflix’s first generation of internally developed original games.”

While Netflix isn’t new to games, this would be the first time the streaming company has considered a PC title. The streamer added games to its mobile app last November and has launched quite a few titles since then. In a recent investor letter, Netflix said it’s currently developing 55 new games.

“We’re focused in the next few years on creating hit games that will take our game initiative to the next level. More generally, we see a big opportunity around content that crosses between TV or film and games,” wrote Netflix.

Netflix has also previously stated that it’s considering launching a cloud gaming platform, and in September, the company formed its first in-house game studio in Helsinki, Finland.

Further, Netflix’s vice president of games, Mike Verdu, has also hinted that the streaming giant could expand into the PC gaming space.
