No explanation available to sporadic breaking of auto-rotate feature on Pixel 6

According to Android Police, some Pixel 6 phones aren’t reading the data of some sensors correctly, causing issues to features like auto-rotate and horizontal photography.

The issue appears to be happening at random, as reported by Pixel 6 users from around the world.

The only fix that seems to be available at this time isn’t permanent. Users can restart their phones, allowing the features to function again, but the random breakdowns continue to happen.

Android Police reports the phones do have trouble communicating with some sensors that allow the auto-rotate feature to be used, but they only found this in phones staff tested.

It’s unclear what’s causing the global problem at this time.

Halo Infinite glitch unlocks campaign co-op, players urged not to attempt

Halo Infinite’s campaign has been available for a few weeks at this point and has been met with an overall positive reception. However, one core feature of the campaign has been delayed until 2022, and that is co-op. 343 Industries said it wasn’t going to be available at launch. However, a new glitch shows two players exploring Zeta Halo together.

On Reddit, a user posted a 30-second video of two players playing through the campaign together. The poster stated the video originated from a Facebook group. It was also said the players “did it by accident and are currently looking into how to replicate it.”

While the original team of Spartans has been unable to guide the community on how to glitch their game, others have taken it upon themselves to see if they can reproduce it. One Reddit user responding to the original post is said to have been successful. That said, in a follow-up, the user states the glitch caused all progress to become corrupted. “I broke all my saves trying to reproduce this glitch,” the user claimed.

The method in question was then used by other members of the Halo community with an equal mix of corruption or the glitch not working. Scouring through comments and social media posts, I’ve yet to stumble on anyone who’s gained an overall positive experience out of the glitch.

Personally, even a successful reproduction of the glitch doesn’t seem to warrant the corruption of the progress made on a save. Personally, after doing a 100% run, grabbing collectibles and skulls, the last thing I’d want is to lose the progress.

As others have noted on the Reddit thread, it may be worth letting others be the guinea pigs. 343 Industries have claimed that co-op will be available later in 2022 along with the Forge multiplayer mode.

Halo Infinite is currently available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.

A lickable TV display prototype has been developed by Japanese scientist

A Japanese scientist has developed a prototype of a lickable TV screen he dubbs ‘Taste the TV” or TTTV. According to Reuters, Homei Miyashita hopes to put a brand new spin on the concept of consuming content.

TTTV is said to be a multi-sensory viewing experience that is made possible with the use of a carousel of canisters. Using 10 flavour canisters, combinations are then rolled onto a hygienic film over a flat TV screen. The viewer then can taste a sample of a particular food and test their pallet.

“In the COVID-19 era, this kind of technology can enhance the way people connect and interact with the outside world,” Miyashita said. “The goal is to make it possible for people to have the experience of something like eating at a restaurant on the other side of the world, even while staying at home.”

Miyashita is a Meiji University professor. He works with a team of roughly 30 students that have developed a series of flavour-related devices. However, the TTTV prototype was built by himself over the past year. Miyashita has said a commercial version of his device would cost 100,000 yen or around $1120 CAD.

On top of the prototype, Miyashita has been gaining the attention of other companies. Some have approached him for the use of the spray technology the TTTV utilizes. Discussions have been made about a device that can imprint the taste of pizza or other foods to a slice of bread.

After a tumultuous two years dealing with COVID-19, talking about licking anything immediately raises red flags for me. However, Miyashita does raise a point. There are benefits of being able to taste diverse foods from the comfort of your own home.

Tesla to disable Passenger Play feature while driving

Tesla has agreed to disable its Passenger Play feature while its vehicle is in use and in motion. The feature has faced obvious criticisms as it enabled the ability to play games when the car was being used.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently launched an investigation. It appeared to have encouraged Tesla to react and make meaningful changes to the way the feature would operate. Through a software update, Passenger Play will no longer be enabled when the vehicle is in motion, NHTSA confirmed to The New York Times, via BBC.

“Passenger Play will now be locked and unusable when the vehicle is in motion,” NHTSA said to The New York Times. Tesla has not made an official statement on the matter.

The NHTSA investigation began after Tesla owner Vince Patton filed a complaint when he discovered he could play games while driving. The US safety body felt as though Passenger Play “may distract the driver and increase the risk of a crash”. All four Tesla models (S, X, Y, and 3) were probed as a part of the investigation.

The feature is fully integrated into Tesla’s touchscreen and OS. Initially, the Tesla Passenger Play was available when the car was not in motion. However, in December 2020, Tesla changed that and allowed users to play games when the vehicle was being driven. Tesla intended for it to be used by the passenger. However, nothing stopped the driver from accessing the games at their leisure as well.

Over the past year, this feature began to cause worry as it could unintentionally encourage distractions while the driver is controlling a Tesla.

Tesla’s electric vehicles offer more than 20 games to play when parked and three that were enabled when the car was in motion. The three games are Solitaire, Sky Force Reloaded, and Battle of Polytopia: Moonrise.

Watch Santa deliver gifts around the world using Google Santa Tracker

Santa has left the North Pole and begun delivering gifts around the world. Led by his nine reindeer, Santa’s journey will take him through each country. Thanks to Google Santa Tracker, you can keep up with where in the world Father Christmas is.

Google has held on to the annual tradition of tracking Santa Claus each Christmas since 2004. The tracking system is powered by Google Maps. Google uses satellite technology and a bit of magic to keep up with Santa’s location. It’s become a favourite of families around the world as they can see where Santa is and where he is off to next.

Google has been expanding the Santa Tracker portal with beloved features as well as new activities families can take part in. One of my personal favourites is the ‘Local Guide’ which shows the exact location of Santa and provides the ability to see details and attractions of the area. Google will redirect users to Google Maps to see a more in-depth look at the area.

Additionally, the Santa Tracker shows the grand total of presents delivered by the big guy. At the time of writing, over 2,500,000,000 gifts have been dropped off across the world.

Google Santa Tracker also includes a whole bunch of interactive games to play. Santa Selfie, for instance, enables users to give the jolly old elf a beard trim and style his hair. There are also games like Gumball Tilt and more. Of course, what’s a Christmas without a Yule Log fire video. Yes, the Santa Tracker portal includes one of those as well for your viewing pleasure.

It’s a pretty impressive offering of activities Google has helped put together for families across the world. Kids can learn a bit of geography while Santa and co. zip from location to location around the world throughout the day.

Google Santa Tracker can also be installed on Android as well through the Google Play Store.
