Cyber Monday deal from Koodo, Virgin Plus and Fido offers 20GB for $55

Flanker brands Koodo, Virgin Plus and Fido are offering a pretty sweet ‘Cyber Monday’ promotion.

The today-only plan offers 20GB of data for $55 per month. This plan is only available for bring-your-own-device customers, according to the offer’s fine print.

The promotion comes with unlimited calling, unlimited Canada-wide and international texts. This plan typically costs $60/15GB. And with Koodo mobile this plan also comes with $50 off your first bill.

It’s worth noting that Fido states this offer is for bring-your-own-device customers only, but it’s also advertised as being for new activations and hardware upgrades. The deal is likely restricted to the former given that’s how the other flanker brands are presenting the deal, but we’ve reached out to Fido for clarification.

Sony patents DualShock-esque controller for mobile devices

A recently published Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan patent outlines a gaming controller that would work with mobile devices.

Per the patent, this would function similar to the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Cons or the existing Backbone mobile controller that clip onto either side of a phone. The image in the Sony patent shows controller parts that look identical to a DualShock’s button layout.

Sony controller patent

It’s important to note that as with any patent, this isn’t a guarantee that PlayStation is working on a mobile controller. However, it would align with other moves that the company has made as of late.

Earlier this year, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan confirmed that “iconic PlayStation IP” would make the jump to mobile by 2022. Behind the scenes, the company also hired a former Apple Arcade executive to adapt its “most popular franchises” to mobile.

There’s also the possibility that PlayStation is looking more into streaming games to phones. Currently, the company offers such an option for PS4 and PS5 owners via its Remote Play app. However, there isn’t an Xbox Cloud Gaming-like option to stream titles to a mobile device directly from the cloud sans console.

In any event, what we do know is that PlayStation is planning to release WipEout Rush, an Android and iOS take on its sci-fi racing series, sometime in early 2022.

Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ rumoured to feature 50-megapixel primary shooter

In just a few months, Samsung will release its trio of S series smartphones, the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. Now, a new rumour from the well-known leaker Ice Universe indicates that we’ll see a camera change in the series’ cheaper smartphone models, the S22 and S22+.

According to Ice Universe, the S22 and S22+ will feature a 50-megapixel primary shooter capable of pixel binning to a 12.5-megapixel sensor, which should allow for more light without using the Night mode. This is similar to what we see in the S21 Ultra, though not quite as extreme (the S21 Ultra features a 108-megapixel shooter) and aligns with Google’s Pixel 6 series.

Moving from the primary camera, the S22 and S22+ will reportedly feature a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical. It’s unclear why Samsung is moving away from a 64-megapixel sensor. The company may be looking to cut costs while providing a better primary camera experience.

Alongside these cameras, the ultra-wide-angle shooter will sport a 12-megapixel sensor that is mostly the same as what was available with the S21 series. The same also goes for its 10-megapixel selfie camera.

On the other hand, the S22 Ultra will feature a completely different array of cameras, according to recent leaks. You can expect a similar offering to the S21 Ultra with 108-megapixel primary camera, 12-megapixel ultra-wide, 10-megapixel telephoto with 3x zoom, 10-megapixel periscope with 10x zoom and 40-megapixel selfie shooter.

It’s currently unknown when Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S22 series, but we’ll likely see the trio of smartphones in January or February, considering previous launch dates.

CD Projekt Red confirms Q1 2022 current-gen console update for Cyberpunk

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the next major update and PS5/Xbox Series X new-gen updates for Cyberpunk 2077 will arrive in the first quarter of 2022, as mentioned in its Q3 2021 earnings report.

According to the earnings report, Cyberpunk‘s current-gen update will release between January 1st and March 31st, 2022, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s current-gen update will appear in Q2 2022.

Last month CD Projekt Red announced that all Cyberpunk 2077 updates had been pushed to 2022.

Further, both the Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 updates will be free for those who already own the games.

Given the increased critical attention that CD Projekt has garnered over the last year due to the bug-ridden launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in December 2020, it’s likely that the developer is being extra cautious with how well these new-gen versions perform.

More than ten patches for Cyberpunk 2077 have already been released that address many of the game’s issues. The title is currently available to play on the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 through backward compatibility.

Some users claim most third-party chargers won’t work with Pixel 6

Some users have noted that their Pixel 6 smartphones can’t be charged with third-party chargers.

According to several users on Reddit, the Pixel 6 Pro won’t recharge with older Pixel smartphone chargers or third-party chargers. Additionally, others have claim that their Pixel 6 won’t charge with any car chargers, including the original Pixel Stand or the newer 2nd-gen version.

One Pixel Community forum user said that they tried to use roughly 20 different charging combinations and none worked. However, they said that a ‘power delivery charger’ — a charging brick capable of higher speeds — was able to charge the smartphone.

It’s unclear what the source of this issue is and why only some Pixel 6 devices are affected. The charging problem seems to be tied to the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro.

I often charge my Pixel 6 Pro with a Nintendo Switch charger, Google’s proprietary charger or plug it into my wall outlet adapter, and I’ve experienced no issues with charging the smartphone.
