Here are all of the new movies and shows hitting Disney+ on Disney+ Day

Exactly one week from today is Disney+ Day, the Mouse House’s inaugural celebration of, as its name suggests, all things Disney+.

The company picked November 12th because the streaming service originally launched in Canada, the U.S. and the Netherlands on that date in 2019. Fast forward two years and Disney is ringing in the occasion with Disney+ Day, which it describes as “a special global company-wide fan celebration.”

So what does that mean? Well, Disney is promising a slew of new content releases on Disney+, as well as a “special presentation” to reveal what’s coming to the service in the future from its various brands, including Marvel.

Disney hasn’t revealed an exact schedule for its Disney+ Day presentation, although it will stream on Disney+ for subscribers. We’ll be sure to cover that news once it becomes available.

For now, though, Disney has revealed what new content is dropping on November 12th. See below for the full list:

Modders transform Game Boy Advance SP into 16-bit Switch with Joy-Con support

It’s always interesting to see brilliant modders repurpose old handhelds and consoles.

Macho Nacho Productions took it upon themselves to mod a Game Boy Advance SP and add official Joy-Con support. To top it all off, the device can even be docked to play 16-bit games on a TV.

Via the Macho Nacho Productions YouTube channel, creator Tito and collaborator Kyle Brinkerhoff showed the process of creating this ingenious device. First off, the duo used an already made accessible kit to enable a video-out connection to a TV display. Using this mod kit, classic Game Boy Advance titles can be played on a comparatively larger display.

With that out of the way, Tito and Brinkerhoff created a custom 3D printed frame and housing replacement that included the ability to mount the Joy-Con controllers on both sides. Additionally, the housing replacement needed to be large enough to fit the Raspberry Pi Zero comfortably. The duo also had to replace the battery unit and install a 2,000mAh unit.

The finished product resulted in a repurposed Game Boy Advance that functions similarly to the official Nintendo Switch. Of course, the modded device lacks motion controls and additional bells and whistles you typically get from Nintendo Switch titles. However, the idea of playing Game Boy Advance SP games on a TV with Joy-Cons is novel.

Macho Nacho Productions has steadily been building a reputation for these sorts of ideas. Earlier this year, the team promised to produce and sell a kit to mod their own Game Boy Advance SP with a larger battery, wireless charging, Bluetooth support, and a headphone jack. Brinkerhoff has also published all the files needed to upgrade their own GBA SP as well on GitHub.

One-ton tungsten cube sold to crypto investors for $250,000

The biggest tungsten cube ever to be manufactured has been sold to a crypto investor group by the name of TungstenDAO for the whopping price of roughly $250,000 (about $311,000 CAD).

Manufactured by Willowbrook, Illinois’ Midwest Tungsten Service, the tungsten cube was made as a part meme and part experiment. The dense 14.545-inch cube was created and subsequently sold via an NFT. The sale of the cube can be found on OpenSea.

Tungsten has become a common meme within the world of cryptocurrency. For one reason or another, the crypto enthusiast community at large has latched on to tungsten as the next big meme. Like Gamestop stock, tungsten is becoming a hot commodity and Midwest Tungsten Service is using this to their advantage.

Via a company blog post, the tungsten manufacturer announced the project in which they promised to make the one-ton cube.

“We will make the 14.545” cube, it will weigh approximately 2,000 pounds. This NFT represents a real-world physical cube that will be stored at Midwest Tungsten Service headquarters and owned by the NFT owner. One visit to see/photograph/touch the cube per calendar year will be allowed and scheduled with a Midwest Tungsten Service representative. Unlockable content is required for scheduling and proof of ownership required for entry. The cube will be stored in a room of its own that will be locked and only accessible by the NFT owner.

Subsequent owners of the NFT cannot visit the cube in a year in which the cube has already been visited. The cube will not be available to view until 12 weeks after the first sale. Burning the NFT will result in a shipment to the most recent owner via freight truck, owner will be responsible for alerting Midwest Tungsten Service of the intention to burn and transport after freight drop-off.”

If you’re confused as to why TungstenDAO would spend roughly $250,000 (or more accurately 56.9 ETH), you’re not alone.

There’s not a clear motive of what the group plans to do with the NFT. TungstenDAO could simply be leaning heavily into the meme, as we’ve seen others do during the Gamestop stock boom.

Microsoft says some Windows 11 features aren’t working due to expired certificate

Microsoft is warning Windows 11 users that some of the operating system’s features are failing due to an expired certificate.

Following the expiration on October 31st, Windows 11 is currently preventing apps like the touch keyboard, Snipping Tool and emoji panel from opening.

It’s unclear exactly how many users are affected by these issues, but for now, Microsoft has a patch (‘KB4006746‘) available in preview, which needs to be installed manually. However, while this fixes most issues, like the touch keyboard and emoji panel, Microsoft notes that the Snipping Tool app remains dysfunctional.

“To mitigate the issue with Snipping Tool, use the Print Screen key on your keyboard and paste the screenshot into your document,” says Microsoft. “You can also paste it into Paint to select and copy the section you want.”

The company says this is its suggestion in the meantime until it rolls out a formal resolution, which it will provide an update [on] when more information is available.”

Homemade USB-C iPhone currently costs $100,000 on eBay

If you want to be the lucky owner of the world’s first USB-C iPhone, you’ll have to shell out a ridiculous amount of cash.

The fabled homemade iPhone that ditches Apple’s Lightning port in favour of USB-C currently sits at $100,000 USD (roughly $124,000 CAD) after 154 bids on eBay.

The listing describes the smartphone as a black 64GB iPhone X that doesn’t include a box or additional accessories. It’s worth noting that there are seven days left in the auction, so the cost is sure to continue to skyrocket.

Thankfully, the seller is offering free shipping to anywhere in the world, as well as a 30-minute call “if you have any questions” (what a deal). The listing also states that whoever buys the USB-C iPhone can’t “restore, update or erase” the device, and says that you must confirm you won’t open it or use it as your daily smartphone.

Oh, and the seller doesn’t accept returns, so if you change your mind, you’re stuck with it.

Ken Pillonel is behind this particular USB-C iPhone project, so it’s likely safe to assume that he’s behind this auction. While Pillonel first showed off the project a few weeks ago, he recently released a YouTube video outlining how he was able to add a USB-C port to the iPhone X.

If you purchased a Pixel 6 Pro from Bell, you’ll likely have to wait longer for your order

If you purchased a Pixel 6 Pro through Bell, you might be waiting a little longer than you initially expected to get your hands on your new smartphone.

MobileSyrup has received a tip indicating that many people who purchased the Pixel 6 Pro through Bell have received emails stating that their order is at the top of the priority list and is expected to ship by December 10th.

The issue at hand is that until today, Bell’s internal stock indicator displayed the Pixel 6 Pro as “in stock,” according to the tipster.

Additionally, the tipster said the device they purchased through Bell is the ‘Stormy Black’ 128GB Pixel 6 Pro.

Through the Google Store, this variant won’t be ready to ship until December 30th, 2021. It’s unclear if other colours Pixel 6 Pro variations purchased through Bell are also experiencing shipping delays.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Pixel 6 and 6 Pro stock issues. For example, on the smartphone’s release date, Google’s website indicated that the ‘Sorta Sunny’ Pixel 6 Pro won’t ship until January 18th.

In a statement to MobileSyrup, Bell said the following:

“The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices are very popular and demand is high for these phones on the Bell network. We are working to fill customer orders as quickly as possible over the next few days.”

Thanks ‘Carolly’
