Since 2003, Call of Duty games have been among the most popular in the video game industry.

Like following in the footsteps of other legendary franchises, Call of Duty will also have its own big-screen adaptation. According to reports, Paramount and Microsoft’s Activision have reached an agreement to create a film.

Paramount will develop, produce and distribute the project, which will put the spotlight on a story within the franchise.

According to Variety, Paramount plans to launch a major motion picture first, designed to make a lasting impression, while leaving the door open for additional projects in both film and television (series).

With recent examples of successful film adaptations such as Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Bros, Minecraft and Sonic the Hedgehog, and Call of Duty’s impressive cumulative revenues of over $30B (US) from its video games taken into consideration – expectations will be high for the Call of Duty movie.
