With the return of warmer weather, Montreal’s Old Port is once again set to become one of the city’s liveliest spots. Concerts, food festivals, immersive experiences, family attractions, and thrill-seeking activities will set the tone for the summer season starting in May.
The season will kick off with Face à Face, a concept featuring outdoor musical duels where different artists will perform in front of the audience in an open-air dance floor atmosphere.
A musical and festive lineup all summer long
In June, the Sans Visage event will take over with a lineup focused on electronic music, featuring Vladimir Cauchemar and Vald. The Hotwheelz Festival will follow on July 1 with a mix of classic cars, music, and a retro vibe.
The Grand Prix comes to the Old Port
As the Grand Prix approaches, the area will transform into a veritable playground for racing enthusiasts.
An immersive car simulation experience presented by Monster will be available for several days, while Audi on 26th Street will host an exhibition of prestigious vehicles as well as demonstrations related to the world of Formula 1.
Immersive and scientific experiences
Among this summer’s new offerings, Expérience Infinity will present an activity inspired by the world of Black Mirror. Using artificial intelligence, visitors will be able to create a digital version of themselves in a futuristic and interactive experience.
The Montreal Science Centre will also present a new exhibition titled Signs of Life, dedicated to the big questions surrounding life in the universe. The exhibition will allow visitors to explore elements related to space exploration and even touch a real moon rock.
Another new family attraction: bumper cars called Kaboom will be set up in the Bonsecours Pavilion throughout the summer season.
Food festivals are back
As every year, several culinary festivals will draw visitors to the riverfront. Among the events anticipated this summer:
- Flavors of India & Festival of Colors
- A Taste of the Caribbean
- Street Food Festival
- The Grand Poutinefest
- Afromonde Festival
- Montreal Taco Fest
Action sports fans can also look forward to the return of in September.
Old Port classics remain as popular as ever
The Old Port’s must-see attractions will, of course, be back this summer. Visitors can enjoy the Montreal Ferris Wheel, explore SOS Labyrinthe, or take to the skies with Voiles en Voiles.
Adrenaline junkies, meanwhile, can try Montréal Bungee, the MTL Zipline, or the famous Saute-Moutons on the river.
For a more relaxing experience, Bota Bota will welcome visitors with its floating spa concept.
Cirque du Soleil returns to the Big Top
Summer will also mark the return of Cirque du Soleil to the Old Port with the presentation of the show ECHO, scheduled from May 21 to August 16 under the Big Top.
With culinary discoveries, music, thrills, and family activities, the Old Port of Montreal promises yet another particularly lively summer season.
