But sometimes, even the maximum amount of effort isn’t enough. One dog mom is going viral for sharing her account of every pet owner’s worst nightmare.
Chloe Julian (@chloedjulian) shared “the hardest video [she’s] ever had to make.” In it, she told the story of why Bogey, her one-year-old golden retriever, passed away. She hoped the video, which has more than 1.1 million views, would “help bring awareness and save somebody’s baby.”
“On Friday, May 1st, our sweet Bogey was with my fiancé’s family and they took him on a nightly walk,” Julian said. “And during that walk, he ended up eating a mushroom and was brought back home. Didn’t really show any signs immediately, and they put him to sleep.”
But the next morning, Bogey had vomited “everywhere.” The family took him to the emergency vet, who instructed them to attempt to locate the same kind of mushroom Bogey had eaten. That way, he could receive more tailored treatment. The family also “called poison control and the ASPCA to see what kind of mushrooms were in the LA Santa Clarita County area.”
“During his time at the emergency vet, they did give him an IV for nausea, liver protectant, and then also for hydration because he was dehydrated, and he could not eat, and it was hard for him to drink water,” Julian said. “We were told … that he had a 50% chance of making it.”
Armed with Bogey’s favorite toy, a stuffed bear, Julian and her family spent all of Saturday with their dog. While he showed excitement at the sight of his owners, they “could tell he did not feel well at all.”
“He just was not himself,” Julian said. “He was drooling everywhere. You could tell he was still very nauseous. It was just so sad and heartbreaking to watch your baby literally die in front of your eyes.”
The next day, Julian was notified Bogey had apparently eaten a death cap, which is a kind of mushroom responsible for the majority of dog fatalities. Julian and her fiancé ordered “several tests” for Bogey, including blood work. But the medical team said he was “likely” to die, even with plasma transfusions.
“And so we had to make the decision to send our sweet, sweet baby to doggy heaven,” Julian said. “That was the hardest decision ever … Please learn from our story. If you have a pet or you’re watching somebody’s pet and they eat something that they’re not supposed to eat, especially any sort of wild mushroom, take them to the emergency vet immediately.”

Viewers offered an outpouring of sympathy and condolences in Julian’s comment section, with some of them sharing similar stories of mushroom-related dog deaths. Many commenters echoed Julian’s warnings, offering advice.
“I am begging anyone reading this to NEVER allow your dog to eat ANYTHING you didn’t personally feed them or a trusted person,” one commenter wrote. “Watch them carefully when they’re on walks and sniffing around. I used to be a vet tech and the stories I can tell.”
“If your dog eats things off the ground please muzzle train them,” another advised. “To train them let them see it and any time they show interest give them a reward. Once they’re comfortable with it hold a treat on it and gently place it over their nose. Pull it away before they step back. Slowly increase the time it’s on them, rewarding for every success and ignoring for the failures. Also train leave it.”
Experts second this advice. PetMD states that “if left untreated, swallowed objects can be fatal in dogs.”
“Swallowed objects may cause choking, poisoning, or intestinal blockage,” PetMD’s website reads. “Call your vet anytime you suspect ingestion. Do NOT induce vomiting unless a veterinarian specifically instructs you to—some items cause more damage coming back up … Prevention includes safe chew toys, supervision, removing hazards, and using tools like crates and basket muzzles.”

While the dream of many, building a business from the ground up is much easier said than done. And one of the most important day-to-day aspects of being a business owner is mastering the art of building a loyal base of customers.
Enter Michael Johnson, an Air Force veteran and the owner of AC Man Heating & Air Conditioning. Johnson is going viral for sharing a particularly unique customer service story.
Johnson (@acmanheatingandair on TikTok) shared a video that has more than 341,000 views. In it, Johnson shared a “crazy story” about an encounter he had with someone he assumed was a customer.
“This happened in Fayetteville, North Carolina,” Johnson said. “So, I get called out to a customer’s house because her heat was out. So, the lady calls me and she says, ‘The house is really cold.’ She gives me the address, take everything down. I tell her it’s going to be a dispatch fee, everything. She says she’s totally fine with that.”
Johnson said he then drove out to her property as planned, and the customer opened the door when he rang the doorbell. But when he told her he was there “to fix the heat,” she didn’t seem like she was expecting him.
“She just kind of says, ‘Okay,’” Johnson said. “I think it was about 40 degrees in the house. So I’m troubleshooting the furnace. I’m in there freezing and I find out what it is—there was a relay that was bad.”
To make sure this diagnosis was correct, Johnson said he swapped the relay from his truck with the relay in the furnace.
The furnace started successfully heating the house again. Johnson reported back to the homeowner, telling her that if she wanted to go through with the repair, it would cost about $200.
“She said, ‘Okay, well, are you going to call my daughter and get the approval?’” Johnson said. “And I said, ‘Oh, is your daughter the one that called?’ And she said ‘yes’ … I initially thought it was the [homeowner] that called me.”
So Johnson called the number of the customer who’d initially called him. He gave her the “good news.” Then he realized she had no idea what he was talking about.
“She says, ‘No one is here at my house,’” Johnson said. “‘I’ve been waiting here for an hour and no one showed up.’ So then I verify the address with her. She says, ‘No, you’re four houses down.”
Perplexed, Johnson returned to the homeowner and communicated that it was a “misunderstanding.” He let her know he’d apparently shown up to the wrong address.
“The lady says, ‘So my daughter didn’t call you or anything?’” Johnson said. “I said, ‘No, I just went to the wrong house.’ And so the lady starts to cry. And she says, ‘I just prayed this morning. I told the Lord that I don’t have the money to fix my heat and my house is freezing. And I asked the Lord if he would send someone to fix my heat.’”
Moved by the homeowner’s plight, Johnson said he “realized that [he] was an answer to prayer.” He offered her the service “on the house.”
“Left her with a nice warm house, went four houses down, fixed that furnace,” Johnson said. “And that is one of the most amazing, craziest stories in Fayetteville since we’ve been running our air conditioning business the last 22 years.”
While Johnson’s comment section was littered with viewers who were touched by his story, it left some viewers wondering, what exactly is a relay?
It’s important to define what HVAC means, as a relay is a part of an HVAC system. HVAC stands for “Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning” and, according to HVAC retailer Trane, “is an all-encompassing term when it comes to talking about your [home’s] heating and cooling system in its entirety.” A relay (also called an HVAC relay or control relay) makes up part of this system.
According to controls retailer Value Controls, a relay “is a small yet essential part of your HVAC system” that “is crucial in regulating electricity between control panels and various system components.”
“HVAC relays are electromechanical switches that control the flow of electricity to different components of your HVAC system,” Value Controls’ website says. “They utilize an electromagnet to … [function] as an intermediary between low-voltage control circuits and high-voltage load circuits … By regulating these circuits, relays control compressors, fans, and heating elements, ensuring proper temperature management and overall system functionality.”
Johnson, then, helped control the flow of electricity to the woman’s HVAC system by fixing the relay.

Touché par la détresse de la propriétaire, Johnson a déclaré qu’il « s’était rendu compte qu’[il] était la réponse à sa prière ». Il lui a offert la réparation « gracieusement ».
« Je lui ai laissé une maison bien chauffée, je suis allé quatre maisons plus loin et j’ai réparé cette chaudière », a déclaré Johnson. « Et c’est l’une des histoires les plus incroyables et les plus folles de Fayetteville depuis que nous gérons notre entreprise de climatisation, il y a 22 ans. »

On June 4, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced his long-awaited strategy for AI use in Canada. With governments around the world committing to using AI for a litany of purposes, Carney has joined the fray and announced a plan for nationwide adoption of the controversial technology. While critics express doubt over the environmental and economic impacts of AI, Carney’s new plans attempt to quell doubts while investing in Artificial Intelligence. Carney’s AI strategy does not just include strategies for adoption, but will also reportedly attempt to protect Canada from the risks associated with the technology.
According to the official document released by the government of Canada, Carney’s new AI strategy will attempt to accomplish seven major goals. While some of the goals carry specific timelines, some are also general goals that will most likely be difficult to measure their success. Carney’s government will aim to invest $2 billion into AI-related services in order to accomplish the goals. Carney’s list of goals includes protection measures for Canadians through education services, creating jobs in the AI sector, the adoption of AI-based services in the business sector, and AI infrastructure.

In a confusing, but strangely hopeful turn, Carney’s government will reportedly attempt to protect Canadians from the risks of AI. Why Canada would invest $2 billion into a technology it sees as a major risk to its citizens is a vital question; the commitment to protection does bode well for the way the Canadian government views the technology. With dozens of studies outlining the risks of unmitigated and unregulated AI use on humans, Canada’s serious investment in the technology raises questions, but according to Carney, a significant chunk of that funding will be dedicated to education.
Mark Carney wants to implement cost-free AI literacy courses available to any post-secondary students who wish to attend them. Unfortunately, none of the documents released to the public has given a clear plan of action for the implementation of these courses. According to Carney, Canada will implement a National Literacy Initiative to educate Canadians about AI. This would include teaching 3,000 educators about the risks of AI in order for them to educate their students. Canada’s AI strategy claims it will also ‘Protect Canadians and children against the risks from AI and online harms.’ But does not give a single example of how it will complete that task.
With AI adoption causing a rift in multiple job sectors, Canada will reportedly be creating jobs in AI targeted towards young Canadians. According to the document released on June 4, the government aims to create 90,000 jobs in AI, though it did not provide a timeline. Earlier in June, senior government officials were asked how many jobs had been lost due to AI adoption, to which they had no answer. AI minister Evan Solomon pointed to a statement from Bank of Canada deputy governor Michelle Alexopoulos, who recently claimed that there had been ‘no evidence’ of job loss due to AI. Conservative deputy leader Melissa Lantsman has claimed that Canada lost 112,000 jobs in 2025, but it’s unclear how many of those were related to AI technology. In addition to the 90,00 jobs in AI targeted towards young Canadians, Carney’s 50-page plan claims it will create 250,000 jobs in total,

The most concerning portion of Carney’s AI plan encourages small businesses to adopt AI. AI adoption in daily business has been heavily reported to cause more issues than it solves. Starbucks USA recently killed its multi-million dollar AI program, as it lost the company money, and caused workers headaches, all while directly causing job losses for workers. It’s unclear whether businesses will be forced to implement any strategies, but with grants and funding available, small and medium-sized businesses will be strongly encouraged to adopt AI technology, potentially at the cost of employees. Ottawa will also be investing $500 million into its Regional Artificial Intelligence Initiative. The initiative is meant to aid AI startups in growing and address common challenges with AI adoption across critical sectors.

Interestingly enough, Carney and the government of Canada do not want to rely on American and Chinese AI models. A large chunk of the funding will be going to homegrown AI companies, in the hopes of using Canadian technology that can be regulated and with companies that the government can form long-term relationships built on trust. Senior officials claim they don’t see Canada completely moving away from American LLm’s, but the focus of this plan will be to make Canada an AI superpower. Ottawa plans to build a world-leading public supercomputer, as well as a slew of data centres that can house AI models.
With data centres causing serious problems across the globe, it’s unfortunate and surprising that it appears as though Carney has not learned from the mistakes of other countries. Mark Carney is following the money in hopes that AI will help Canada, but as the technology causes countries and job sectors to crash and burn, Mark Carney has opened the door and invited in risk, rolling out the red carpet for something that may cost Canadians in every way possible.
