Red Hot Chili Peppers Listen to Their Fans

During a recent concert the band literally asked the audience which of their songs they wanted to hear.  With nine CDs, the latest being a double album entitled Stadium Arcadium, the choice left to the fans was not easy.  Chad Smith, the band’s drummer, said that they did their best to respond to all of the requests.  Smith told Billboard magazine, "We’re playing for five hours."

On a more serious note, the drummer added, "We’ve been doing about six new ones each night, and we switch those up the next night just to keep things fresh for us.  And we do different old ones, too. We have to keep doing different stuff or else we’ll get bored."

The Red Hot Chili Peppers began their North American tour, which includes 38 shows, in Portland.  In November the band will travel to Europe to perform.
