During the award presentation, the French actor paid tribute to Russia, saying he had "always had a good feeling for the soul of the Russian people, maybe because I learned to read with Dostoevsky".
The 38 year-old Australian star revealed the news in her first interview since her diagnosis last year. Minogue said that her first reaction was, "No, I’m getting on a plane", to continue a tour. But her parents, who were with her, said, "No you’re not – sit down."
The interview, which will be televised in England on July 16, was also for the purpose of promoting the singer’s next album.
Minogue, who was undergoing chemotherapy treatments until last December, will be returning to her Showgirl Homecoming tour in Australia next November.
The 25 year-old Brazilian beauty thinks that she may have lost her sex appeal. She said, "I definitely feel that I had more men hitting on me in the past. When I was younger, maybe 15 or 16, for sure."
She added, "Maybe I am not as good-looking? I don’t know. Maybe my age has started showing? I take off my sunglasses and I’m 25."
The young woman is one of the world’s most prestigious models, dated actor Leonardo DiCaprio until their split in November, 2005.

The Brown Sugar guitarist delayed the A Bigger Bang tour by two months after he fell out of a tree while on holiday in Fiji in April and suffered head injuries.
But the 62 year old insists fans will see him at his best when the tour resumes in Italy later this month.
In a recording on his website, Richards says, "Hey, everything’s cool, my guitar is tuned, I’m ready to go. It was a nasty knock but we got over it and I’m ready to rock."
The British band was in Germany to perform a concert on June 25, when suddenly eight inches (20 centimetres) of rain fell in ten minutes. Local police canceled the event due to the storm. A source revealed, "It wasn’t safe for anyone. Muse were hanging out backstage, gearing up to brave the elements."
The instruments were left on stage, and the source added, "The equipment is being looked over and the band are hoping to rescue as much as possible."
Last Thursday, two suspects, Bill Keys and Adam Beckwith, were taken into custody after the two were caught with private photographs of the stars. Apparently, the men had plans to sell the pics.
The two came into contact with the pictures when Jolie’s brother, James Haven, had taken his digital camera to a repair shop. The suspects discovered that the camera’s memory card had photos of the celebrities and their family, and downloaded the card’s memory.
The suspects have not commented on the situation.
On June 30 a Los Angeles court finalised the divorce decree. Singer-turned-actress Jessica Simpson has now left behind the Lachey name. The star filed for a divorce last December. Simpson and Lachey were married in 2002, and the wedding was publicised for their then reality series Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.
Since their separation, Simpson, 25, and Lachey, 32, have been spotted with several dates. Simpson has been linked to actor Jared Leto, while Lachey has been seen dating both Vanessa Minnillo and stylist, Kim Kardashian.
The former Baywatch star severed a tendon in his arm in a hotel gym. According to a spokesperson for the 53 year-old celebrity, Hasselhoff was shaving in the gym’s bathroom when he accidentally hit his head on a chandelier, sending chards of glass into his arms and hands.
Doctors operated on the actor to repair the tendon, and Hasselhoff then spent the night in hospital.
Hasselhoff was in London to promote his film Click, in which he stars with Adam Sandler.
The pretty, British actress, 21, happily admits that she felt privileged to get to kiss her two co-stars, Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp.
Knightley says she was the envy of her friends. She explained, "I get both of them! My girlfriends were really, really angry. I think I’m hated completely! They were very gentlemanly. Both had Altoids before we started kissing, which is always nice, the sign of a very nice man. The stubble’s not great… No, actually I don’t remember it being a particular problem."
