The successful folk singer of the 1960s and 70s is planning to release his first album in 28 years. Cat Stevens retired from the world of music in 1979, two years after changing his name in accordance with his new religion.
The new recording, which is yet untitled, is expected to be released next fall. The singer told the BBC, "It is important for me to be able to help bridge the cultural gaps."
The new collection will feature Islamic songs that he has written over the past 20 years. Producer Rick Nowels helped with the project. Nowels has also worked with Madonna, Stevie Nicks and Belinda Carlisle.
The film, which is currently being called Summer 2006 Project, will also star Tom Wilkinson and an actress who has yet to be named.
The movie follows the story of two brothers with serious financial problems. When a third person enters their life and convinces the two to turn to crime to solve their problems, their lives go from bad to worse, and the two brothers become enemies.
Filming on the project is set to begin in the next few weeks in London. It will be the third movie that Allen, who has always worked in New York, has made in London. The other films made in England by Allen were Match Point and Scoop.
World Trade Center recounts the story of two port authority police officers, John McLaughlin and Will Jimeno, who risk their lives to save others during the attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York City. The film opens in theatres on August 9 in America. To watch the trailer, click here.
The release was previously planned for last December, but now the DVD will be in stores on June 27. The recording was first sold on home video in 1995 with a double-disc CD.
The DVD was created during the band’s The Division Bell tour, and shows footage from 14 concerts at London’s Earl’s Court. The disc Dark Side of the Moon is completely captured in the DVD, as well as the songs Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 and Learning to Fly. Also included is a documentary and behind-the-scenes footage from 1987 until 1994.
The film, which was adapted from Dan Brown’s book, didn’t seem to please the critics. There was no clapping at the end of the film, and there were uncomfortable moments of laughter at inappropriate times during the film.
In addition to the critics, the film has been under attack by the Catholic church, which disapproves of the film’s message.
Directed by Ron Howard (American Graffiti, A Beautiful Mind), the film stars Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou and Jean Reno. The Da Vinci Code suggests that Jesus had a secret romance which left a line of descendants.
Although it hadn’t been confirmed previously, the news was hardly a secret. The 38 year-old actress had been refusing to comment on her private life, and has now decided to come clean about her relationship with Urban. Tuesday, while at a charity dinner in New York, a reporter asked who her friend was. She responded by saying, "He’s actually my fiance."
The two were first seen together last July. In November, Kidman was photographed with a diamond ring on her left hand, which began the rumours of wedding plans. Urban, 38, is also from Australia.
The American magazine In Touch is reporting that Lopez is three months along in her pregnancy, and that she is expected to give birth in December. The rumours began after Lopez cancelled her tour without giving an explanation. This month, she was to be performing in Bombay, Dubai, Moscow, Bulgaria, Istanbul and Greece.
Jennifer Lopez, who is married to singer Marc Anthony, has recently revealed that having a family is a priority for her.
According to the Voici magazine, the French actor has had Hélène B. as a mistress for the past five years. The article states that they received a letter from the woman, who reported that the secret love affair ended last fall.
The seven-months pregnant woman said that she decided to go public with the story to force the actor to take responsibility for his child. She said that she wants to end the fighting, and that her child should have a father.
According to the band’s official website, Baksh left on good terms and will be working with a new group, Brown Brigade. The website reported, "He was sick of this whole life and would have more fun playing in his own classic metal band, so we respect that. There’s no hard feelings whatsoever. The fact is Dave lost interest a long time ago. Not to take any credit away from him, but he really didn’t have anything to do with this band creatively for a long time."
Sum 41 will now begin their search for a replacement for Baksh.
