Gary Glitter Gets 3 Years in Jail

The 61 year-old man will also be required to pay a fee to the girls families, as well as the court fees.  Glitter, who maintains his innocence, now has 15 days to file an appeal.

This isn’t the first time that the singer has been arrested for a sexual offence.  Ten years ago, Glitter was arrested in England for having pornographic photos of children on his computer.  He was sentenced to four months in prison for that charge.

Glitter, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, is best known for his successful song, Rock and Roll (Part Two), which was popular in the 1970s.

Pearl Jam’s New Disc Coming in May

The band, led by singer Eddie Vedder, will be selling their eighth studio album on May 2.  The first single from that disc, World Wide Suicide, will be available on the band’s website (http://www.pearljam.com) for free downloading on March 8, for two days only.

Eddie Vedder spoke recenlty about the upcoming release, "It’s very aggressive, because again, it’s kind of a product of what it’s like to be an American these days. It’s pretty aggressive, especially when you turn it loud."

Avril Lavigne Sells Her Canadian Home

The 21 year-old star has sold the suburban property for $599,000.  The home has two bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Neighbors weren’t suprised by the sale, stating that the singer rarely spent time in the residence.  Lavigne has been living in Bel Air, California with her boyfriend, Deryck Whibley, the Sum 41 singer.

Lavigne, who has sold more than 13 million CDs in her career, spent last weekend in Italy at the Closing Ceremony for the Olympics.

Lucy Liu Makes Documentary Film in Pakistan

The Charlie’s Angels star traveled to Pakistan with a production crew to film the city that is now rubble.  More than 70,000 people died in the 7.6 quake, and now more than 4 million people have been left homeless.

Liu, who is a UNICEF ambassador, hopes that the documentary will raise awareness around the world about the quake’s destruction.

James Blunt Tops the Chart

Blunt, who was awarded the title of Best British Artist at last month’s Brit Awards, has topped the singles list with his song, You’re Beautiful.

The last British artist to have the number one song in the US was Elton John, with Candle in the Wind/Something in the Way You Look Tonight in 1997.  The song was recorded after the sudden death of Princess Diana.

James Blunt’s CD is currently in the number 5 position on the US sales charts, and has already sold more than 6 million copies world-wide.

George Clooney Is No Expert on Love

The actor, who has dated several celebrities, including Renee Zellweger and Lisa Snowdon, talked to The Sun recently about his relationships.

According to The Sun he said: "I’ve failed miserably at all of them. I can say that it was always me. You can’t describe me as a great success."

He added, "I shouldn’t be putting out books on relationships – How To Date, by George."

Clooney has been nominated in three categories, including Best Director for Good Night, and Good Luck in the upcoming Oscars, which will take place on Sunday evening.

Courteney Cox Returning to Television

Cox, who played Monica Geller in Friends is filming a pilot for the FX channel in the United States.  In the dramatic series, the star will play Lucy Spiller, a newspaper editor.

The president of FX is very happy to have Cox joining the series.  He said, "We are absolutely thrilled that Courteney has chosen ‘Dirt’ for her return to series television."

Cox’s husband, actor David Arquette, is one of the executive producers of the project.

Dior is a Favourite for the Oscars

The Christian Dior House understands the impact the celebrities have on their clients.  Charlize Theron is a face associated with this designer.  She is the covergirl for the perfume J’adore.  Sharon Stone is the spokesperson for the anti-aging cream.  Both stars will be wearing Dior at Oscar night this year.  Two other stars that were guests at a Dior fashion show were Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson.

In the fashion industry, it is not unusual that a celebrity is paid to attend a fashion show, and are given the dresses that they themselves wear.

The new channel, described as a European channel of erotic programs for couples.

Dorcel TV will be on 24 hours per day, seven days per week, in French, English and German.

In France, the channel can present its programming from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am, 7 days per week.
