Artists Unite to Help Katrina Victims

The first concert will be presented Friday and televised by NBC.  Harry Connick, Jr., country singer Tim McGraw, and Wynton Marsalis, are all from Louisiana, the American state hit hardest by the storm.  Leonardo DiCaprio will also attend the event.

MTV is also planning a benefit concert.  Already Green Day, John Mellencamp, the Dave Matthews Band and Alicia Keys have confirmed their participation.  The concert will be held on September 10.

Hurricane Katrina claimed the lives of many victims, and the death toll is still unknown.  Experts predict that it will cost more than $25 million dollars to restore the areas that were damaged in the storm.

Destiny’s Child: Group of the Year

For the three Americans who also presented at the ceremony, it will be their last honour as a group.  They have announced that they will separate after their concert in Vancouver.

Gwen Stefani and The Game also were winners in the Best Sales category for men and women.

Singer Mariah Carey was awarded the title of Best R&B Artist of the Year.

The World Music Awards recognizes artists who sell CDs world wide.  The complete list of winners will be televised on September 13.

Madonna Goes Back to Work

The American star, 47, returned to Shepperton studio in London to shoot a television commercial for Motorola.

Sources confirm that the singer is in great shape after suffering from multiple fractures after falling from her horse last month.

Madonna’s next CD will be on sale November 15.

Britney Spears Predicts Caesarean

The star said she is ready to follow the path of other celebrities who opted for the surgery.  She explains, "I have a feeling I’m going to have an operation. I don’t know why."  

"My mom said giving birth was the most excruciating thing she’s ever gone through in her life. So, if a caesarean doesn’t happen, I’ll be like, ‘Epidural, please.’"

"Hopefully my athletic abilities will take over. Kevin (Federline) is going to hold my hand."

A new publicity camgaign for the song Driving Too Fast will be shown next weekend in American theatres, and NASCAR cars are featured in the video.

The Rolling Stones are currently touring in North America.  Their new CD, A Bigger Bang, will be on sale starting September 6.

NASCAR is the biggest motor sport in North America.

Robbie Williams To Try Acting

According to the Daily Star, Robin and Barry Gibb, two members of the BeeGees are considering making an investment into remaking the successful film from the 1970s.

The former BeeGees would like Williams to play the lead role of Tony Manero, the role played by John Travolta in 1977.

A friend of the band is quoted in Britain’s Daily Star newspaper as saying: "They have always wanted to remake the film and bring out a more modern version."

The source added: "And Robbie is the ideal candidate to play Tony – he can sing, dance, is a good-looking lad and has loads of charisma."

Next month, Williams will launch his sixth disc, entitled Intensive Care.

28% of the women identified the former Friends star, Jennifer Aniston, while 25% of the men chose Brad Pitt.
