Project Freedom: U.S. Says Ceasefire Holds Despite Multiple Iranian Attacks in Strait of Hormuz

Surprising details were shared by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine during a press conference following the launch of the military operation «PROJECT FREEDOM» in the Strait of Hormuz, aimed at escorting vessels stranded amid escalating tensions tied to the war in Iran. The operation had been announced earlier by Trump on Truth Social. Hours later, the president claimed that U.S. forces had already exchanged fire with Iran, stating «Iran has taken some shots at unrelated Nations with respect to the Ship Movement, PROJECT FREEDOM, including a South Korean Cargo Ship.»

The situation has raised immediate concerns among analysts and international observers, many of whom fear the operation could trigger a broader escalation between Washington and Tehran. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most strategically sensitive maritime corridors in the world, with a significant portion of global oil shipments passing through it daily. Any military confrontation in the area carries the risk of disrupting international trade and energy markets. Despite these risks, U.S. officials have maintained that the operation is defensive in nature, focused on ensuring safe passage for commercial vessels.

«We beat them very badly, now they’re reduced to little boats with machine guns on the front of them.»

-U.S. President, Donald Trump

Speaking at the press conference, Hegseth emphasized that U.S. forces have established what he described as a protective shield over the region, stating that a «red, white and blue dome» now covers the Strait of Hormuz. He also insisted that «the ceasefire is not over.» even as reports of continued Iranian activity mounted. The statement reflected the administration’s position that while incidents have occurred, they do not yet meet the threshold for a return to full-scale hostilities between the two countries.

General Dan Caine provided further detail, confirming that Iran had conducted multiple actions since the ceasefire was put in place. «Since the ceasefire was announced, Iran has fired at commercial vessels nine times and seized two container ships, and they’ve attacked US forces more than 10 times, all below the threshold of restarting major combat operations at this point,» he said. He characterized the attacks as limited in scale, adding «What I’ll say is it’s low harassing fire right now.» while noting that «The threshold of restarting is a political decision above my pay grade.»

According to U.S. officials, Iran was warned in advance not to interfere with the planned escort mission, but tensions escalated rapidly as missile and drone activity intensified in the region. The United Arab Emirates temporarily closed its airspace following the attacks, underscoring the immediate regional impact. Reports of multiple strikes targeting both maritime and nearby infrastructure fueled fears that the ceasefire could collapse, even as officials continued to insist that the broader agreement technically remained in place.

-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine

Trump also addressed the situation from the Oval Office, offering a more aggressive assessment of Iran’s position. «They play games, but let me just tell you, they want to make a deal,» he said, before adding «And who wouldn’t, when your ‌military is totally gone?» He further claimed that Iran «should wave the white flag of surrender.» and stated «We beat them very badly, now they’re reduced to little boats with machine guns on the front of them.» His remarks contrasted with the more measured tone of military officials, highlighting differing narratives within the administration as tensions continue to unfold.

Formula 1 Drivers Who Changed The Sport Forever

Ever since the first Formula 1 race in 1950, most people have assumed that it is always about speed, precision, and that feeling in your throat as the cars zip past. Sure, it encompasses all that, but there’s more to it. We have teams that make history and others that make blunders. Then we have the automotive part: the machines that smash lengths of 190 miles and still stand. But the real secret ingredient? That has to be the drivers! Over the years, we’ve seen them all. But the ones that stick around are the ones that reshaped the game. These are beyond the winners of races; they are the ones who took the sport to new places, making it what it is today. Some changed how the cars were built, others changed how drivers are seen, and a few even changed the very culture of F1 itself. It’s all about breaking boundaries, daring to do things no one thought possible, and making history in the process. The world of Formula 1 isn’t the same because of them—it’s better, faster, and, well, a whole lot more exciting. Ready to dive into the stories of the drivers who flipped the script? Hold on tight because the ride’s about to get wild.

Trump Brags About Cognitive Test Again, Says He Identified a Squirrel

Trump recently renewed his unusual insistence on his cognitive abilities, repeating claims that he has taken multiple cognitive tests and «aced each one» of them. Speaking about ongoing questions surrounding his mental fitness, he said he often responds directly to critics by requesting new evaluations. «Whenever they get a little sassy, saying» he began, describing how people ask «Does he still have it? Does it still have what it takes,» before adding «I say ‘I’ll take another one’.» His remarks reflect a long-standing pattern of addressing scrutiny over his cognitive health through public references to standardized medical assessments.

During the same exchange, Trump offered a new example of the type of questions included in such tests, describing a scenario involving identifying animals. «You have a lion, a bear, an alligator, and a, what’s another good..? A squirrel.» he said, before adding «Which is the squirrel?» The comment drew attention for its simplicity, as it echoed previous descriptions he has given of similar exercises. Trump has repeatedly cited these examples as evidence of his mental sharpness, often presenting them as proof of cognitive strength in public speeches and interviews.

«I’m the only president that ever took a cognitive test.»

-U.S. President, Donald Trump

The test Trump frequently references is widely understood to be the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, or MoCA, a short screening tool designed to detect mild cognitive impairment and early signs of dementia. Developed in 2005 by Dr. Ziad Nasreddine in Montreal, the exam typically takes about ten minutes to complete and includes tasks such as memory recall, pattern recognition, and basic identification exercises. Medical professionals consistently emphasize that the test is not designed to measure intelligence or high-level reasoning, but rather to identify potential cognitive decline in clinical settings.

MONTREAL COGNITIVE ASSESSMENT (MoCA)

Trump’s public emphasis on the test dates back several years and has evolved into a recurring theme in his political messaging. In January 2018, he highlighted a perfect score of 30 out of 30, stating that doctors were «amazed» by the result. By 2020, he began referencing a memory sequence from the test, repeating «Person, Woman, Man, Camera, TV» as an example of its difficulty, while claiming «99% of the people… would not do well» on the task. Over time, these references have become a staple of his speeches, often framed as evidence of superior cognitive ability.

Since returning to the White House in 2025, Trump has continued to raise the topic, stating that he has completed additional evaluations and describing parts of the test as involving «very tough mathematical equations.» He has also claimed «I’m the only president that ever took a cognitive test,» presenting the screenings as a unique qualification. Medical experts, however, have repeatedly clarified that the MoCA is a basic diagnostic tool and not a measure of intellectual performance, reinforcing the gap between clinical interpretation and political messaging surrounding the test.

«You have a lion, a bear, an alligator, and a, what’s another good..? A squirrel. Which is the squirrel?»

-U.S. President, Donald Trump

Public and media concern regarding President Trump’s health since his return to the White House has centered on several recurring physical and cognitive signs. Observers have noted swollen ankles linked to chronic venous insufficiency, visible bruising attributed to daily aspirin use, and signs of fatigue during travel. Critics have also pointed to tangential speeches, reports of drowsiness during meetings, and late-night social media activity. While the White House maintains he is in excellent health and describes his energy as «superhuman», ongoing references to cognitive testing have continued to fuel debate about his overall fitness for office.

Trump Accuses Pope of «Endangering a Lot of Catholics» in New Attack

Trump does not appear willing to ease tensions with the pope, renewing his criticism in a fresh series of remarks that further escalated an already public feud. In his latest comments, the president again targeted the head of the Catholic Church, accusing him of «Endangering Catholics» as disagreements over the U.S.-led war in Iran continue to deepen. Speaking during an interview with a conservative radio host, Trump revisited earlier criticisms and framed the pope’s position as out of step with U.S. national interests, intensifying a dispute that has increasingly moved from policy differences to personal attacks.

During the interview, Trump sharply criticized the pope’s stance on Iran, suggesting that the pontiff was minimizing the threat posed by Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. He told the host that the pope «would rather talk about the fact that it’s OK for Iran to have a nuclear weapon.» before adding «I don’t think that’s very good.» The assertion contradicts public statements made by the Vatican, which has consistently opposed nuclear proliferation. Trump nevertheless used the claim to justify his broader criticism, arguing that such positions could have dangerous consequences for Catholics and others worldwide.

«God does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war.»

-Pope Leo XIV

Trump went further, directly accusing the pope of putting lives at risk, stating «I think he’s endangering a lot of Catholics and a lot of people.» The comments marked one of his most direct attacks yet on the religious leader, who has repeatedly called for restraint and de-escalation in the Middle East conflict. The president concluded his remarks by repeating his claim about the pope’s position, saying «But I guess if it’s up to the pope» before adding «he thinks it’s just fine for Iran to have a nuclear weapon.» The statements reinforced the growing divide between the administration and the Vatican.

The origins of the dispute can be traced back to late March, when Pope Leo XIV publicly criticized the moral justification of war in response to the U.S. strike on Iran. On March 29, the pope declared that «God does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war.» a remark widely interpreted as a direct rebuke of the administration’s rhetoric. The criticism came after U.S. officials framed the military action in part through religious language, including calls for divine support, prompting concern from the Vatican about the ethical framing of the conflict.

Getty Images

Tensions escalated further in early April, as the pope continued to condemn the potential consequences of military escalation. On April 7, he described threats to destroy an entire «civilization» as «unacceptable,» while an April 11 Easter Vigil sermon warned against what he called the «idolatry of self.» Trump responded on April 12 through Truth Social, labeling the pope «WEAK on crime» and «terrible for foreign policy.» The exchange underscored how rapidly the disagreement had evolved into a direct confrontation between the two figures over both policy and moral authority.

«I think he’s endangering a lot of Catholics and a lot of people.»

-U.S. President, Donald Trump

The dispute appeared to reach a new peak on April 13, when Pope Leo XIV stated he had «no fear» of the administration, emphasizing the need to speak out on behalf of civilians affected by the conflict. His remarks highlighted the Vatican’s continued focus on humanitarian concerns and the protection of innocent lives. As Trump’s latest comments show, however, the conflict remains unresolved, with both sides maintaining sharply opposing views on the war in Iran and the broader role of moral leadership in times of international crisis.

Sydney Sweeney is spotted out and about with this controversial figure

  • Sydney Sweeney is reportedly dating producer Scooter Braun.
  • Rumors had been circulating for several months before any confirmation.
  • The actress shared photos from the Stagecoach Festival with her alleged partner.
  • The photos were quickly interpreted as confirmation of their relationship.
  • Scooter Braun is an influential figure in the music industry, but also a controversial one.

Sydney Sweeney is now reportedly officially dating music producer Scooter Braun, a relationship that had already been the subject of much speculation for several months. As early as last summer, rumors were circulating about a possible romance between the two. Despite this, neither party had confirmed anything, leaving doubt about the nature of their relationship.

It was ultimately on her social media that Sydney Sweeney seems to have chosen to put an end to the speculation—albeit in a rather subtle way. The actress shared a series of photos taken during a weekend at the Stagecoach Festival, a very popular event known for its country vibe and unapologetic Western style. In these shots, she appears smiling, relaxed, and, above all, very close to Scooter Braun—a detail that didn’t go unnoticed by her followers.

Without an explicit caption confirming their relationship, these images were quickly interpreted as an official announcement. The visible chemistry between the two was enough to convince a large portion of the public. In any case, this new couple is already attracting a lot of attention and continues to spark reactions on social media.

She captioned her photos with a short phrase to sum up her little getaway: “Kind of a cowboy weekend,” Sydney noted.

A partner at the center of controversy: who is Scooter Braun?

Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney, 28, is reportedly now dating Scooter Braun, 44.

A well-known figure in the music industry, Scooter Braun has established himself as an influential producer, entrepreneur, and talent agent over the years.

His career really took off in 2008 when he discovered Justin Bieber on YouTube. He then signed the young artist to his company, SB Projects, playing a major role in his rise to international stardom.

Over time, he found himself at the center of several high-profile controversies. In 2019, he notably acquired the Big Machine Records label, which allowed him to obtain the master recordings of Taylor Swift’s first six albums. This situation prompted the singer to re-record her albums in order to regain control of them, a case that garnered worldwide attention.

In the summer of 2023, several major artists associated with his agency, including Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato, reportedly ended their collaboration with him. Following these events and other controversies, Scooter Braun announced in June 2024 that he was stepping back from artist management to devote himself fully to his role as CEO of HYBE America.

OPINION: Trump is UNO’s biggest loser as he posts confusing AI image holding ‘all’ the UNO cards.

Donald Trump and his media team have long proven their penchant for immature, borderline offensive AI content. From videos of Trump dumping feces on New York, to insane meme videos à-la MLG Gamer, Trump’s social media team are about as mature as a group of 12-year-old boys. While the videos are almost always tone-deaf, and many of the AI photos of Trump exist simply to boost his ego, every now and then, something so ridiculous is posted that it makes headlines.

On May 2, Donald Trump posted a photo on Truth Social. The AI photo shows Trump proudly splaying a handful of UNO cards, all of which say ‘WILD’.

The problem here is not the AI photo (even if it should be); the problem was the caption. Underneath Trump’s impressive handful of cards were the words ‘I HAVE ALL THE CARDS’. Now, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what’s wrong here. In case you’re unfamiliar, the goal of UNO is to have no cards. By boasting that he has ‘All the cards’, Trump is proudly bellowing from the rooftops that he is UNO’s biggest loser.

There are a few possibilities explaining how this gaffe happened. According to Trump, he posts all of his messages himself, but this has been debated by multiple sources working closely with the President. In the now-infamous ‘junkyard dogs’ article about Trump’s Chief of Staff, Suzie Wiles, and a podcast from The Daily Beast, it was revealed that his executive assistant, Natalie Harp, acts as a ‘human printer’, taking Trump’s spewing of information and translating it to Truth Social posts. Trump reportedly dictates all of his posts to Harp, who then posts them for the President after reading them back to him. What’s unclear is who creates and posts his poorly done AI videos. Judging by the poor quality, it’s clear that whoever is giving the prompts to AI has never been trained in prompt-writing and does not go through a quality-assurance process.

Concerning spree of posts

While it’s not uncommon for the President of the United States to post half a dozen nonsensical, insulting, and violent posts (sorry, I should confirm it’s not uncommon for this President), Trump went on a tirade of nonsense after the meaningless UNO post. Soon after, Trump posted a photo of himself with King Charles, who was in the United States less than a week prior. The post had no context and no caption; perhaps Trump just liked being photographed next to someone who looks even older and more decrepit than he. Afterwards, he posted a photo from the Federal National Mortgage Association (or Fannie Mae), where a large black-and-white poster can be seen that pictures Trump leaning over a desk with the words ‘No Games!’.

Of course, no Donald Trump tirade would be complete without some unpresidential comments about his coworkers. Trump posted a message criticizing BOTH Gavin Newsom and Bill Maher. Maher, a longtime Trump supporter and struggler with critical thinking, recently interviewed Gavin Newsom. The interview did not go Maher’s way, with the host bungling facts and seeming unprepared in front of Newsom, who is one of the Democratic Party’s most vocal voices. Trump claimed that Maher was “eaten up” by Newsom, but neither escaped criticism. Trump called Newsom’s claims a lie and claimed that Maher bent the knee and did not challenge the Democrats.

Hakeem Jeffries also caught some digital flak from Trump. The minority house leader recently called the Supreme Court ‘illegitimate’, citing how the Republican caucus will bow to Trump’s wishes. Trump called Jeffries a ‘low IQ individual’ (not the first time he’s said that), and claimed that he should be impeached. According to the President, if Trump himself could be impeached after a ‘perfect phone call’, then Jeffries should be impeached for these comments. He finished the statement by pleading to his loyal Republican minions to come to his rescue.

Why so unpresidential

While we are mostly accustomed to Donald Trump’s immature online persona, it doesn’t make it more acceptable. Approval ratings also reflect Trump’s behaviour. Trump is currently boasting an impressive -19 approval rating. During Trump’s first term in office, more than 15 per cent of Americans called Trump ‘unpresidential’. While the same poll hasn’t been conducted during his second term, it’s a safe bet that the number hasn’t gone down.

A similar poll in 2017 showed that a whopping 70 per cent of Americans viewed Trump as unpresidential.
